He's in the 40 man prelimary squad. I doubt he'll make the final 23. Good that he gets recognition, but I'd rather he rest this summer than sit on the bench for England U21's. Probably just a ploy to shift more tickets for the England U21 game at St Mary's. Old trick, they used to throw a Saints player in for games at the Dell. Can remember Graham Baker and the Wallaces getting caps from nowhere just for Dell england games.
He deserves the chance of international football, however I doubt he will play. Strange that Pearce was at St Marys to announce the squad?...
he was at St Mary's to drum up ticket sales for the game there on the 5th June. It's a standard tactic for U21 games.
INM: It's something to do with when the Euro campaign started. As long as he was'Under 21' then he can play. I guess it's the same reason for Carroll etc (although, I have no idea how old he is, he could be 21 for all I know)
Carroll is 22. There aren't that many young, English players with the craft and flair that Lallana has along with the physical and mental strength to break down very tight and physical teams. Defenders hate playing against players like him and for very good reasons. Lallana is worth a shot for those reasons.
Really great achievement for Adam to be picked however with the other midfielder picked I think Adam may not be picked for startin XI However would to be wrong... to see him play for U21 would be brilliant, but cant see it just yet!
Wonder how the tickets are going for U21 match. They can't be that hopeful as they only plan to open the Itchen.
