Very rarely these days do I look at a quote and think that those shrewd bookie chappies have made an error but Coral may have done in quoting the above at 4/1 to train a UK Group 1 winner next season. In quoting the old girl at 4âs they are in effect saying there is a 20% chance of this happening. People, I would have this figure in the region of 40-50% and therefore think that in reality it should be a 6/4 â Even money quote. Lady Cecil has recently stated she will remain at the helm of Warren Place next term and that âstock levelsâ should remain at around 100 horses as existing owners have expressed no interest in withdrawing their current animals or not sending future generations to Warren Place (Lord Teddy, racing manager of her largest owner, immediately welcomed the news and expressed his support). In fact the number could actually increase as she also hopes to attract new owners. Furthermore, her excellent âassistantâ, Mike Marshall, will remain so this solid continuity should be a huge plus point. I really do think that 4/1 is a massive price and can see her having many, many shots at securing a Group 1 in the UK next term. Anyone agree or am I missing something that would explain why Coralâs are so keen to offer 4âs???
It would be a very popular happening. I suppose it depends how many of the good older horses are staying in training.I haven't noticed anything outstanding in the WP 2-y-o's thus far. Perhaps Hot Snap can step up a level and pick up one of the "easier" mares only G1's. I'd probably want a shade better than 4's tbh with the Qatari's sure to even more active at the top level of Stakes racing next season.
Interesting that they have framed the bet as next season and a UK Group 1. Lady Cecil has Tickled Pink entered in the Prix de l’Abbaye, Wild Coco entered in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, Hot Snap and Riposte entered in the Prix de l’Opera; and Tiger Cliff entered in the Prix Du Cadran at Longchamp next weekend. This Saturday at Newmarket she has Joyeuse entered in the Cheveley Park Stakes and Chigun entered in the Sun Chariot Stakes. With all those Group 1 chances, the flag may be flying above Warren Place in the next couple of weeks... and I have not even mentioned Champions’ Day.
Whether it's a steal or not I don't know but it does lookm like a very nice ante post to be holding a slip for.
Yep, read about this at the weekend. See he will be leaving to work for old boy Ismail Mohammed. Seems an incredible decision to me and to use a footballing analogy it would be like a player quitting The Arsenal to play for Chippenham Town! I’m sure that conspiracy theories will abound all over the place but I’m not personally going to put 2 and 2 together and make 25. Mohammed is a rising star of the sport but I still think it’s a strange one as for every rising star who makes it dozens don’t. I would have advised old Marshall to sit tight for a couple of years at Warren Place, laugh uncontrollably at Lord Teddy’s quips and then set up on your own – with potentially many of the top owners on board who will have seen you, first hand, in the very, very, very high profile position as the Lady’s assistant (where your media profile will be considerably greater than at Mohammed's yard).
no doubt it will all come out in the wash--but it is a very significant move, and speaks more than a blind mans dog !
