Despite the good start to the season, I think most would agree that our squad is still thinner than Karen Carpenter wearing a gastric band With deLort said to be on the verge of signing for Hull (SSN), do you agree that we need new players, & if so, where? I would like to see us sign (not loan) another left back, another central midfielder, and two strikers. If key players like Solly, Buyens, Gudmondsen or Igor pick up injuries, we are going to be right in the brown stuff.
The best teams have one if not two good strikers on the bench ...... we have Church and the Pig! Churchy is all effort and no end product and the Pig needs a good long loan somewhere. Keeper... no we can loan a keeper if need be RB... no we have cover in Wilson and Gomez CB.... no we have the bike, the guy who is only interested in money, Morrow, Gomez and Cousins LB ..... no we have Fox and in an emergency the skipper as cover RM .... Wilson, Cousins, Sho-silva but I would like an extra body here CM ..... perm from Buyens, Jacko, Cousins & Munns(?) we are short here LM .... we have the Mouse, the Harriotts and perhaps Jacko here.... so thin CF .... cover is Church & the Pig.. perhaps Ansah..... we are short here So my priority would be in order of need Striker.. Creative centre midfield... Striker... Left midfield... pacey right midfield
There are three Clubs in for Delort, Wolves, Wigan and us. Somebody on Facebook has said we have agreed a fee for Delort, but it is probably a load of bollocks. We definitely need a new striker and two midfielders. One of those midfielders could be Bulot. If fit I would like us to bring in Sylvan Ebanks Blake who is out of contract. But he had a serious injury so is probably not the player he was.
I really don't know why Ben Haim is getting Pelters for seeing out his contract at Portsmouth. I would do exactly the same thing. The Chairman who gave him that contract should be the one getting the criticism, not Ben Haim. It just wasn't the contract to Ben Haim that took Portsmouth to the brink. Just look at what some of the other players like Kanu were being paid and the length of the contracts. The Chairman and dear old Harry took Portsmouth near to extinction. Despite me thinking that it was a poor signing, I think Ben Haim has played very well for us and deserves his place in the team.
1) Striker 2) Striker 3) Striker As AHLL said, Pigott needs to go out on loan, I still think there's a player in there. Phillips needs to go out on loan too as soon as Henderson is fit. Might be looking at Orient's wide player who laid on the winner against Villa. Name of Pritchard or something like that
With Nego leaving, surely we need cover in the full back positions. Solly is struggling, and Wiggins has been crap.
SSN are quoting a fee of £2.5m for Delort, well out of our bracket. As you say, I think much of this story was a load of bollocks. Didn't someone post that they saw Delort at the Marriott hotel in Bexleyheath
OK Dick.... say..(in our last Prem Season) JF Moneybank had been given a 3 year deal at Charlton, we got relegated and he was on say...£45k per week....Murray runs out of money and the Club is put into administration... the administrator agrees with ALL the high earners (except a money grabbing runt) to move on to other clubs for whatever wages they can get.... West Ham come in for Moneybank and offer him £35k per week to play at Upton Park in the Prem....... Moneybank says he would prefer to pick up his £45k pw and sit in the stands at The Valley (Charlton could not afford his match appearance fees) and stink out the place. While Moneybanks sits in the stands the club have to make much needed ground staff, stewards, tea ladies, coaches, admin staff redundant as these people are only earning @£12k per year and their redundancy payments are affordable. Now then Dick.... would you still be happy with TBH? Would you still do the same thing? Would you be able to live off £35k per week? Portsmouth was in a mess, the owner and a certain previous manager had gone and couldn't give a feck about Portsmouth anymore.... it was the fans and employees that were suffering (well except for TBH and his agent) not the previous owner who just off set his losses against tax. The Administrator was trying to keep the Club alive and TBH just wanted his money and knew that if Portsmouth was liquidated then he would become a free agent and he would then have to accept £35k per week somewhere else. I do not like the man and think it is a disgrace that he pulls on a Charlton shirt every week.
Tal Been Haim is a crook - all of the other players took massive hits when the supporters trust took over they realised they weren't a ''business'' and did the sensible thing. Tal Ben Haim wanted his full £1.6million and is due to receive £150k of that this coming Sunday (maybe today if he's lucky, as BACS don't go through on weekends). He also wouldn't negotiate a reduction with them when working against a deadline, holding out for all of his money even though it could have sent them in to administration again. As for the topic - we are in need of (ideally) 2 strikers, a left winger and central midfielder. AH, you seemed to miss the Iceman off your list
With Nego leaving??????????? We've got Wilson at RB if Bob would play him, but Wiggins' form is a worry. Before we buy anyone I'd give Fox a run there if Wiggins' poor form continues. I realise this would mean waiting until January before we buy anyone, if neither of those 2 cut it, but what resources we have should be put into getting a striker.
Blame Spiv In Chief Harry Redknapp, and his sidelick Peter Storrie. They were signing rubber cheques for players from Real Madrid (Diarra), paying £20m fees and wages of 80k a week.....knowing full well Fratton Park was a tatty s**thole that struggled to hold 20,000 fans. When he was eventually asked about this when Pompey went pop, he literally shrugged his shoulders and replied "they didn't have to sign them, did they?' ****er ! I despise Redknapp- he has left every Club he has managed at in the sh1t
I totally agree, you can't blame the player for the exorbitant contracts handed out by these clubs. Murray was at fault for bringing in Hasslewank at 45000 pound per week, why wouldn't Hasslewank bite off his hand. I feel really sorry for all those members of staff who have to pay the price for the mismanagement of Chairmen like Richard Murray. Eleven million pounds squandered by Murray and what did it buy us? Amdy Faye, Hasslewank, Diawara, Traore etc. The only decent players that were brought in were Reid and Carson. Everybody has to live within their means and Portsmouth were on the road to oblivion for many years. Was it all Ben Haims fault? Other people are more culpable.
Tal Ben Haim put in little effort on the pitch, he decided to sulk and was a factor in why Pompey were slipping down the table. All he was worried about was his pay, not the club or the fans that support it. He's currently showing he can still cut it at this level, so an educated guess is money is still his motivation.
Portsmouth were in the pooer and it doesn't matter how they got there... the Administrator was trying to save the club and ALL the other senior players were working with hin EXCEPT for Tal Bin Haim..... FACT! Good people lost their household income while TBH kept driving his Range Rover Vogue!
Here's one from left field.... David N'Gog is still a free agent... didn't he do well against us last season?
