Afternoon all, Tuesday night was the first time I've managed to get to a game at the KC since the Fulham game. The first thing I noticed, after turning up at 6.15was the complete crap spouted out before the game that continued until about 7:40, and at half time. For example the "Tiger Trivia" or "Guess where the ball ended up." What's wrong with a bit of music, even themed towards the club (Tiger Feet, Roar)? Does anyone else think this whole "Tigers TV" thing is a bit namby pamby? I know it's probably a daft thread, but I just wanted to know if I was the only one who thought it was all a bit daft.
Pre-match music should be used to help generate atmosphere, not all this corny crap with players trying and failing to chip a ball into a bin. The songs themselves need to be more inventive too. OK we're tigers but does every song have to be tiger themed? Can't we have some rousing music before kickoff?
Music at football, unless its songs being sung by the fans, is a slap in the face for all real fans, and proof of further Americanisation of the beautiful game. Music before the game you say? Where will it stop? Drummers in the crowd? Whole brass sections in the crowd? Goal Music? Cheerleaders? No my friend, you're not there for entertainment, or even 20 blokes running round some grass trying to get a ball past 2 others, you're there to be cold, miserable and to have "banter" with the other sides fans. To do otherwise is to delete the history of our proud game for ever. Music. Sweet Jesus H Christ.
Tigers TV - Nothing about our club, apart from the manager and a couple of players, says 'Premier League'. It says 'Fourth Division plodders playing in an oversized council house'.
I'm not seeing what's wrong with some anthemic, atmospheric music BEFORE games? It's been there since I started going to City in '99. No one ever thought it was wrong when we were in Div. 3?
We are rather fond of the Curtis Davis putting his kit on bit they play on the big screen. Always grabs our attention. More of that please.
The whole pre match is garbage. They play rubbish music very loudly so you can't even speak to people around you. They announce the opposition team when they aren't on the pitch so you can't boo the oppo villain or applaud the ex tiger on his return. The stands introduction is still very embarrassing. They then play more music up to the second that the game kicks off giving no opportunity to build an atmosphere. Music should be background until teams come out then stop. Both teams announced, then wait for kick off.
Where will it stop you say? Drummers in the crowd? Whole brass sections in the crowd? Goal Music? Cheerleaders? Changing the team's name Oh right, you like that Americanisation
