Yeah these have surfaced in the last couple of days. I think it's an I fixation of the summer we are in for Keep your eyes on the prize people.
I would love for us to bring him in, but plan for next season when it's mathematically impossible to go down. We need to pick up a bit performances somewhat. Also the fact it's TalkSport reporting that, doesn't mean much to me. They are the definition of lazy journalism and often stir up stories to prompt readers/listeners to call up the talkshows and pay the premium rates just to get their point across. He is a top player though, and would be amazing if we could pull it off, better than Hooper anyway, who will probably be a similar price, maybe slightly cheaper.
all the same he would be a fantastic signing. i wonder just how close we came to getting him in January. get in a real class defensive midfielder as well and that will be a good start to out summer business.
Whatever becomes - or doesn't, of this rumour, I would imagine his agent knows all about NCFC. And until there's some midfield and wide support for whoever plays upfront, I can't see the player or his agent being overly excited about coming to our club. All goalscorers depend on quality service, and when that dries up, so do the goals. We shall see
Certainly less than half that quoted for Rip van Winkle - and many years ago, before they were drowning in debt.
and your point is? can't wait until all you get is Zigic, and then Who-tons team building complete. defend in numbers until you win a set piece and bung in to Zigic. bet you boys can't wait!
Who we get is inconsequential, I genuinely wanted to know your transfer record. Genuine question, not a jibe.
****ed if i know tbh, far better to produce than buy in! Money is the root to all evil, have you guys learnt nothing from the past 5 years of **** that we have had to deal with!
Thank you, that's all I wanted to know! Lol! I don't think it matters as much what you spend on a player but how good he is Sometimes the two are linked, but not always. Ref. Torres.
Hi Dave, such an acquisition would raise the question of Holty's future with the club. Holty does seem a bit sluggish this season probably due to being a year older. Been a good servant to our club and personally I would like us to offer him out on loan next season, seeing out his contract say with Carlisle to allow him to be with his family. All players know there comes a time when their playing ability begins to decline; would be a nice gesture by our club in thanks for his past endeavours.
What Burley did over 5 years leading up to the Premiership was very much akin to what PL did for you! Burley had a great eye for lower league players and misfits and spent peanuts on bringing in Matt Holland, David Johnson, Alex Mathie, Jermaine Wright, Jim Magilton, Tony Mowbray, John McGreal and at the same time bringing through our home grown players like Pug Wright, Richard Naylor, Keiron Dyer and Titus Bramble. We didn't spend big during our first year in the Premiership only £1.5 Million on Herraiderson. The problems began in our second season when he started to throw the cash on players like Finidi George, Ulrich Le Pen and Sereni.
Rvw isn't a replacement for holt, surely? Holt is a completely different type of striker. One that we need and will continue to need I think. The holt slamming confuses me. A goal drought yes, but look at the circumstances surrounding it (playing up front alone etc) Holt has consistently proven people wrong again and again. I just can't see why some are so eager to get him out. Remember those that wanted to sell him to Leicester when we got promoted to the prem?
I see what you're saying but I think the key difference is the change in manager, and Ewan Chester also coming back. Hughton may have his negative points but I think even his doubters will agree that he has signed really well so far. Bassong was £3 Mill, who didn't play in 90% of the thrashings we've had this season, Snodgrass £3 mill I believe and Tettey the foreign signing was about £1.3 mill who I think has been a very good signing. He's had a dip in form and injuries but I think he'll rediscover that when he gets back. All three of those have been quite expensive signings for us and have worked. Hopefully that continues although £10 mill is a hell of a lot more money than the transfers I've mentioned above. For what it's worth, I don't think Holt has been anywhere near as bad as some people have said, he's been a lot more isolated this year and worked as hard as ever. To be fair he hasn't realy had the service this season and has been feeding on scraps.
