Swansea are closing on a £6m move for Ivorian striker Lacina Traore, 21. The forward, who has been compared to Emmanuel Adebayor and was previously tracked by Arsenal, is desperate to leave Russian club Kuban Krasnodar. Rodgers wants to beat off competition from Ajax for the 21-year-old to bolster his attacking options next season. Looks the business if you ask me.................<cheers>

"It sounds like a basketball players height. Any elite striker is going to have a field day with the Swansea team providing the ball. It would become a shooting gallery." - Odysseus G Osborne, Seattle, British Ex Pat

Never heard of him, wonder where this link comes from ? Do they do it like the draw for cup games, in one pot they put the club names and the other players, then randomly draw them out and print the rumours in the paper ?

Yeah but signing someone from Wrexham is more realistic than Siberia don't you think ? ;)

Why is it unrealistic? As a Prem club we have to look far and wide, not just around the corner. A club like ours also has to look for bargains because we never splash out silly money on established Prem players.

I realise that, but there is no source to this rumour, so it being drawn out of a hat is one I think. It's silly season lol

You may well be right. But we've been linked with this one before so you never know.

    "desperate to leave Russian Club".

Perhaps the KGB,or their modern day equivalents are after him.

Just think poison tipped umbrellas outside some bar on Wind Street. <whistle>

I did a piece on Traore a while back but I can't find it in the archives. He is 6ft 8" and, like Adebayor, is quite a handful - rated by Wenger incidentally. Lots on Youtube to look at. Good in the air as you'd expect, he can look awkward but does have surprisingly good ball control with a few tricks thrown in and is pacey for a guy of his size.

He's got a hammer of a left foot but his right is useful as well and he takes a very good penalty. He seems equally at home running at defences or in the box poaching. All in all, we could do a lot worse than him. Take a look, you won't be disappointed. Oh, one bad thing; I read somewhere that his work rate isn't great but then you wouldn't expect a big unit like him to be putting in the sort of shift that Danny does.
