I remember when we went out of the champions league, people were saying that the premier league was in decline that's rubbish in my opinion, will the same people be saying that La Liga is in decline because they haven't reached the champions league final.
It is in decline. And yes I know barca and real get richer and richer and thus better and better. But the other clubs dont like it and they are starting to have the discussion about whether their current situation of an even more exagerated big 2 than the spl is a good thing. Unfortunatly some insane % of spainish people (over 50% i think) support madrid and most the others barca. So it really is a the biggest glory supporting country there is. I mean here we have the big clubs who have fans around the country. But generally you wont find many arsenal fans up north or that far from london. The exceptions are liverpool to a lesser extent and united mainly. United have a big following because they were on itv alot when sky wasnt in as many households. Therefore people saw united in the champions league when they were kids on telly and supported united whereever they are from. The same can now be said about arsenal and chelsea and liverpool.
They still had five of their teams in a semi-final of a European competition this season. So, it's hardly been a disaster.

Why? I know a ton of people from everywhere I have lived (in london and up to 30 miles outside london) and I know a ton of united fans. The only explanation is that united were always on tv and so built up a following. It is pretty obvious.
