Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish has been thwarted in his attempts to bring former loanee Kyle Walker back to Villa Park. The young right-back impressed while on-loan at Villa last season, but has now agreed a new deal with Tottenham which seems to spell the end of McLeish's hopes of a permanent deal. Walker's new contract extension ties him to the White Hart Lane club until 2016. McLeish will now focus his attention on alternative targets. After a successful end to the last campaign, Walker had got more attention at this summer's European Under 21 Championship in Denmark. He was dubbed 'the new Roberto Carlos' by the Spanish media following his raiding runs against the eventual winners.
