Ridiculous situation.
We should never have taken the World Cup into consideration when assessing his fitness.
He missed it anyway and now he's missing a chunk of this season, too.

You mean if it wasn't for the World Cup he would of had the operation earlier?
 
One would assume that if its just a knock then there is ample time before we next play to get Dier over it though right?
 
Our medical team does not have the best of reputations amongst some Spurs fans, so I do hope there will be some slack given over this one.

Walker's injury is very difficult to diagnose. It's a deep seated lower groin issue which divides medical opinion on whether rest or surgery is the best option. Apparently, even the experts can't make their minds up on this one. Rest doesn't seem to have cured it, so now surgery has taken place. No timescale given on his recovery, but I doubt we will see him within the next 2 months.
 
Big shame he's going to be out for awhile longer, he's a great player. On the plus side at least we have 2/3 options at right back even whilst he's injured.
 
A shame Walker has the injury, would've been good to have him come back and actually have a bit of competition for his place. Dier may well be a CB by trade but his performances so far at RB have been nothing short of first class and I think we'll be seeing a lot more of him there while Walker nurses his injury.

In the early stages, it looks like young Eric has become our best and most important signing, not only has he managed to grab us a winner and contribute to another victory but he's filled in at RB while Walker's out and done really well. Funnily enough, Naughton's red card actually worked as a blessing in disguise! Had he remained on the pitch, Dier will never have been in the position to make the run for the goal and we wouldn't have seen him play RB against QPR and Pool. Funny how things work out, eh?
 
So it looks as if Walker will be ready to come back at roughly the same time that Yedlin will arrive and we'll have 4 players competing for RB ( not counting Fredericks on loan at M'boro).
 
I'm glad that we've got sufficient cover for Walker, but I'm a little annoyed that we've had to use it so early on in the season.
It's nice to have a deep enough squad to deal with such issues, but the replacements simply aren't as good, unsurprisingly.
It'll be interesting to see how we line up against Sunderland given our last result.
