Some may not agree with this view but Kuqi is being signed as a player who will occasionally make an appearance from the bench. He is not a replacement for Carroll. That will come in the summer so we now have a player on very low wages who cost us nothing leaving a big chunk of money available to bring in a new player in the summer. This is a clever move because Aliadiere and Ewerthon would probably be looking for longer contracts on bigger wages.

I wouldn't say it's particularly clever. Ashley just accepted the only person who was willing to play over the short-term for such a small amount of money. Why? Because he's as tight as a gnat's chuff.

I don't think the question was so urgent it required 28 question marks (and a backslash).

Costs nowt, think I heard earlier on here he's on a pay as play deal, and he wants to be here. Plus he's cover good move, as long as its only till the end of the season.

I'm not saying Kuqi is a good player (he definately is not!) but he is hardly going to get any playing time. The way I see it is he is going be on cheap wages and he cost nothing. If Aliadiere or Ewerthon had signed they would want bigger wages on longer deal! Would you rather have Aliadiere who is equally ****e but would cost even more?

Exactly. What have we got to lose? We've signed a player for nowt and is merely here to bulk up our bench. Sure he's not gonna set the league alight, but people lambasted Roeder when he signed Sibierski, who then turned out to be a shrewd bit of business. As people had already said, the likes of Aliadiere would probably demand more money and be less match-fit.

Kuqi, Aliadiere and Ewerthon are free agents for a reason.

One is a inconsistent injury prone Championship quality striker who had very good potential at Arsenal but blew it!
Ewerthon is past it and I doubt he'll make a significant impact at Premier League level, also he's hardly a prolific goalscorer is he?
His best days were in Germany, now he's just a average player looking for one final payday.. he should go to the middle east in my opinion if he wants something like 50k per week +++..
Kuqi is a decent player in the Championship, he's seen his better days already and is only coming in because the above two ^ wanted better contracts and possibly a higher wage. Kuqi seems like a honest pro, good worker, good target-man and will give us a plan B coming off the bench.

Best, Lover and Ranger are all better. Kuqi is OK as cover.
