Apparently true. Most speculating he has been released by us so he could sign for them. Whatever the craic, I wish Krul the best
Its almost like there was a stipulation saying play him once and he's yours. Considering Krul has been out for near-year stints before, it almost seems possible
Signed a one year contract and is therefore available to play against us on Sunday. What's the betting he plays a blinder if selected.
Agree totally fella. Great servant. A wee bit pissed that we didn't get a decent fee. Another off the wage bill will hopefully mean Rafa can build in Jan.
Slightly bizarre turn of events. What has either club or the player got out of this (besides him being allowed to play against us)?
Explain? Brighton already had a loan agreement with Newcastle for a fee and all of or a share of the wages. If Brighton weren't paying all the wages then why would they agree to pay all of the wages by buying him rather than renting him? What am I/are we missing here?
We didn't want or were able to sell him. Loan deal the only way to get him out of the club. Its feasible that with his service in mind, it's now been agreed to cut ties completely and pay up in full our part of his wages for this season. Makes sense for both parties and may have Tax benefits or fits in well with Club Accounts. The bizarre thing for me, is that he's gone to a club as 3rd choice keeper and probably wasting another year. I wish him luck on any case.
Why would Krul agree to give up part of his wages now after they were already getting paid one way or another between the two clubs? Or, why would Newcastle agree to pay off part of his wages that Brighton would have paid? I don't get what tax benefits anyone would get out this arrangement over the previous one.
Sad really, a keeper should be entering his prime at 29, Krul is signing a 1 year contract to be 3rd choice keeper at Brighton. Yeah I always thought he was overrated and very limited, but I thought he'd at least leave and go to Holland and have a decent last few years there, his career is proper nose diving right now.
Appears to be 3rd choice keeper at Brighton right now, but I'd love for him to start against us. Gives us a chance to finally view him as the opposition do and see if he's as bad as we think he is.
Krill gets security of a three year deal and we don't have to pay loyalty bonuses? Who knows. Good luck to him.
Krul hasn't lost out on wages, we''ll have paid him our share of his salary, effectively a Golden Handshake. it doesn't effect Krul or Brighton financially. it also rules out the possibility of him returning in the event of injury, and being lumbered with the full salary. it's no different to how Riviere was taken off the books. pay him off and he's someone else's problem. Does it really matter?
It depends how you gauge a good keeper - he's a decent shot stopper, with poor command of his box and dreadful distribution and kicking. Last year he could had re-started his career in Holland, but he completely failed at Ajax and only played a handful of games at AZ. No demand from anyone for him to stay there. If he was a good keeper he'd have no shortage of offers, but he's had to make do with going to the biggest relegation candidates in the Premiership, and even with them he's currently 3rd choice keeper. He's in danger of getting completely washed up if he doesn't get his career back on track sooner rather than later.
