Rubbish. Judging by the paucity of information I suspect this is a made up story because our Manager is a Dane. Hope I'm wrong, as he looks like a fine player.

Hmmm...... attacking 29 year old midfielder but only has 29 goals in 180 starts, a goal every 6.2 games that would give him 6 goals in a Premier League season, which is tougher than any club level he has played at. I'm not overwhelmed. At his age I doubt he will find a sudden improvement and has little physical presence at 5ft 7".

Another guy we are looking at is Otman Bakkal who plays in the Dutch league (imo higher standard than the Danish). He is 27 and 6ft tall. His career goal record is 45 in 216, a goal every 4.8 games which would give him about 8 in a PL season. I would prefer this option.

Out of interest Sig's figures are: aged 22, 6ft 1"" with 39 goals in 123 games. That equates to a goal every 3.1 games, a little over 12 goals in a PL season and he has proved that he can score at this level. I suppose that is why he commands the transfer fee he has done.

I know stats can be misleading but I had a little play with the figures and found them interesting. I do know, though, that we should hope to get a return of 10 goals plus from an attacking midfielder, if possible. Tough job at the money we can afford.

Or we can buy an AM to play AM and not put a striker there for absolutely no reason.

Yeah I'd go with that too. Let's not move one of the top scoring English strikers out of position, eh...

DG as AM well worth looking at:
    Pros:
    - works his socks off
    - unselfish and links well
    - plays with his head-up, alert to colleagues' movement
    - spacial awareness
    - good first touch
    - good long range striker of the ball

But...there's no guarantee he can play there and then we'd have to sign a 1st choice striker!!

If we already had 2 strikers fair enough, but it seems daft moving one of our standout performers from last season and then buying a player to replace him...

Routledge to AM. Graham to AM. What is this obsession with wanting to play players out of position rather than just bring a specialist in?

No way can DG play attack midfield, his touch isnt good enough and his skills and visjon isnt good enough either, the guy lacks the guile required to play There.
Keep him up front where the guy can keep progressing his game.

KJ - Progressive thinking is a good thing - eg just look at Spain with 4-6-0

So, having DG playing in a deeper role along with our attack-minded AMs (most probably together with an out and out striker cos we're not quite Spain yet!) may just be the tonic

Dai, Musty and many others re DG - you may well have a point

We are after strengthening our forward line, and improving our goal threat, make of it what you want, but Lita and Moore won't be in it!.................. <cheers>

Dai, no way in hell will we pay for a CF that can score 20+goals a season in the PL. Were talking £20million, for one player. No chance.

Let`s just remember that rumours are just that ..... rumours. Until the ink is dry on the paper ...... then they are fact.

    Here`s a selection:

I'm all for being 'progressive' but then there's just plain daft. Not that many footballers who play in a specialised position (ie the majority) can flit between positions successfully imo. Many can 'fill in at a push' in another position but it's not ideal. It worked with Dobbie of course but unless someone can tell me DG has played that role before it's a non-starter for me. I'd prefer a Gylfi type player as AM with goals in him.

Cmon knackered - those that have played at a high level will know that youngsters are (still) encouraged until the age of 16 to play in a variety of positions - take Gerrard, who made his liverpool 1st team debut at right back; Fabregas now playing sort-of-upfront for Spain

DG is more than capable of playing AM

Yes that's true, but they are normally identified, as to their best natural position, EG: Winger doubling up as Striker etc!............. <ok>

the thing that impressed me most about dg was that he did not mind tracking back and defending in the 6 yd box, whether out of necessity he did a good job in that role.
