I have just spent the last hour catching up on all things Town as I have been out of the country this past week. There has been a lot of positive news especially on Klug coming back and with another young talented kid about to put pen to paper. The new Chek Tiote I believe! I like the way things are progressing behind the scenes as finally the club is putting right some of the terrible damage that Keane did during his tenure. http://www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=20873&title=town_closer_on_kourouma
On TWTD some pillocks were moaning about how this meant the end of our Academy and that Luke Hyam would be off, both being ridiculous statements. It's good to see us try and sign some players that are off the radar as I'm sure some of them will come good. it would be nice to see us develop players rather than pay big money for a player only to make them worse, which seems to have been the Ipswich way for the past few seasons. Things are looking a little more promising for the club now
The problem here is that Jewell can't have it both ways! One minute he is saying that we need to be patient and wait for the "right" players to sign and then he contradicts himself by saying that he wants to get all his signings done by pre-season training! My worry is that we are being softened up again for another window of missed opportunities which then lead to the panic buys that have caused us so many problems in previous years. No news at all on a Goal Keeper or Centre Backs etc. Meanwhile other clubs in this league go about actually signing players. The futue is great but we need decent quality for the now and I remain to be convinced that we will get all the players we need.
Not as bad as the guy who said we need to sign more quick, exciting players who are preferably black!
Someone actually said that?... That's brilliant, I suppose he is sort of correct on some of those points
i thought you were signing our ex-'superstar' and glenn roeder purchase omar koroma for a second! i'd never heard of this guy - indeed nobody i asked had heard of him, but love the fact warky thinks he's the new cheick tiote based on nothing more than he's got the same first name!! only played four games in his career so far for two different clubs, recommended by that stalwart and renowned judge of talent ibrahima sonko... i'm sure he'll be a star for you
Never heard of him. He has obviously been at some fairly large clubs so he must have something about him but being only 19 and already possibly on the way to his 4th club makes me wonder whats happened in his past.
A lot of players arrive in Egland's lower leagues with little or no pedigree but work their way up and learn their trade at their current club, everyone starts somewhere and why shouldn't he be the sort of guy that turns out to be good and we get a good few years out of him? Shane Long had only ever made one appearance before Reading took a punt and signed him as a completely unknown unproven youngster and a couple of years later cashed in big time, obviously for every success there are plenty of failures but it's just nice to see Ipswich go with this approach instead of throwing millions at players only for them to deteriorate, this way we might be able to get something resembling value for money
to be fair, its not easy to spot sarcasm on a message board, especially if a sentence is not accompanied by a smiley of some sort i'm not saying the guy will be hopeless - how can i? i have no idea what he even looks like let alone how he plays, but you have to suggest he probably isn't going to be top notch if he keeps moving around trying to find a club who will play him. as has been said, he's young, time is on his side and i doubt he'll cost much so you never know...
Now that we have King Klug back in his rightful place I'm sure that he will soon knock him into shape! This kid has had a number of trials with us and has impressed each time so this isn't a mad gamble for the club to make!
