According to Wenger he will most likely be back after the international break: http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/20141024/team-news-wilshere-walcott-koscielny So our great fears of being so paper thin at the back is coming home to roost, it was always going to be a major **** up by not bringing in one more CB. Chambers has been great at CB and he can play there, but the fact that we have to rely on a 19 year old inexperienced CB who's more comfortable playing at RB is well and truly a major damning indictment at Wenger and the incompetence of this club, I don't know any major elite teams with actual proper ambitions putting themselves in such a situation. Oh and having to rely on Monreal a midget left back to play as CB is a FURTHER damning indictment on Wenger and his incompetence, but hey what do we know, Wenger knows best right?
Of course we know it's a major f**up. The thing I don't understand is why Wenger played Monreal at CB again? Chambers looks more natural at CB (good call by Wenger on that one) and Bellerin looks a decent prospect. To me Bellerin---Mertesacker---Chambers---Gibbs makes morse sense than than what we fielded against Anderleckt. Or even Monreal---Mertesacker---Chambers---Gibbs. But Monreal at CB is a f**ing huge mistake the guy is built like a fly weight.
Monreal at CB is a heart attack waiting to happen. Play Chambers there and Bellerin at RB, both are young but they have shown that they can do the job needed in those positions.
Thought Monreal was decent today but obviously don't want to be relying on him as CB for the whole season. Hope we immediately go for van Dijk as soon as the window opens.
I must admit I missed the game today so can't comment on Monreal. Against Anderlect I thought he was suspect though. I think we'll all feel a lot better when Kos is back and January comes when we can sign a proper back up CB
He was better today. I just worry when he comes up against a Lukaku/Benteke/Sakho/Pellè/Drogba/Dzeko type target man he will get bullied.
