Such a frustrating performance by him yesterday, he is best off playing at home where he can wonder around and get involved when he wants to because we are in control. But then he tries doing that away from home like yesterday and he was absolutely awful, the defending by him for the second goal was weak there was no effort at all he doesn't come looking for the ball and we all know he doesn't come to try and win it. I would of took him and Evans off at half time, for Oli and Big Nick, put Aluko in Korens position and Nick up top. Never felt so frustrated with a player than I did with Koren yesterday when we aren't playing well and things aren't coming off you need the lads to battle through the **** and work harder but he doesn't cut it away from home for me, I would happily see Aluko drop into Korens position and have him out of the team after yesterdays effortless performance, give Proschwitz ago up top. Aluko drops deep automatically anyway. Was a very frustrating day yesterday, but when you look at the anount of money they have spent the last couple of years it was going to be tough. UTT
I think there are one or two players that are ready for rotating. Failing that we should change the formation
Have to admit that would of made a huge difference yesterday. I disagree on Koren working hard, he did try to and he was running his legs off for most of the game, but thats not his game. Due to him doing that he to tired to get forward sometimes and i think away from home him playing so deep is a negative rather than a positive, i definately think we could look to rotate the side a bit more away from home.
True, our next two games will definitely show us where we are at, Blackpool will be a challenge, I have a slight worry in the back of my mind about the Peterborough game. But then I think maybe that is the team we had last season that would have blown a chance for 3 points against Peterborough, we will see. Every team that goes up has very good home form.
Have a look at what Brucie says: http://www.hullcityafc.net//news/article/bruce-leicester-a-reaction-386392.aspx?pageView=full
I actually agree on that Prozzy away could be more effective, but against Peterborough I'd still play Koren unless he's tired or got a knock. We call this a 3-5-2 or some a 5-3-2, but is it when Aluko plays? I don't really see Aluko as a striker. Perhaps a 3-5-1-1 would be more accurate. I think Proschwitz could score goals and we desperately need Oli back as his ball retainment is superb, especially in comparison to Evans.
The last thing we need to do now is over-react and change a team that has had a very good start to the season. We're 4th for a reason and whilst we can improve, we don't want to start making massive changes like new formations or dropping the captain.
Koren's more of a 'Luxury' player. He does the attacking but hardly any defensive effort goes in. From some of his recent home performances, I thought he was beginning to get his defensive knack sorted but away it's a bit different. He's going to be one of them players unfortunately, but really it's balanced by having Quinn and Olofinjana doing the defensive malarkey. If you want a player who can score from 20+ yards and has the ability to win a game, we're going to have to put up with his lack of defensive work unfortunately.
I agree, away from home when you need to grind out a result and work especially hard it can be very very frustrating.
I watch the game on Tiger player as well as listened to SB interview after the game, and from what I saw he was right, there was just more desire in Lesta performance against ours, which looked a bit lethargic. Also Lesta seem to use the space behind the 2 wing backs into the corners, which is one of the negatives playing just 3 at the back I guess.
Disagree that Koren is a 'luxury player' and never really understood the term fully. If it means someone who's good going forward but not defensively then isn't that just what Koren does? He's an attacking midfielder, so he's bound to be better at pinpoint passes and 20 yarders than he is at timely interceptions and perfectly timed challenges. He tracked back yesterday despite the fact I'm sure he doesn't want to, people blaming him for their 2nd surely should by wondering why he'd tracked all the way back to the by-line in the first place? That's not his job. Koren should be playing in the hole, and he's very good at that.
Well I was thinking that we shouldn't play the 3-5-2 away, we should have 2 formations for home and away. Unless the team your playing isn't as organised as the Leicester side was. They exploited each and every flaw of our formation and deservedly won. At home it should be 3-5-2, away it should have be a more 4-4-2 IMO. We haven't had much luck with a 4-4-2 before but if we had a formation like this at away matches: Amos Rosenior, Chester, Faye, Dudgeon Elmohammedy, Aluko, Koren, Quinn Proschwitz, Simpson It could work.
If anything that team looks more attacking and more easily penetrated than our 3-5-2. If we were gonna go 4-4-2 away surely you'd stick an Oli/Kenna/Evans type (probably Oli) in the middle. Aluko and Koren are both attacking midfielders to play them as a centre-mid pairing would leave our back 4 heavily exposed.
Why does Koren take so many corners when we've got Quinn is my question? Koren is the best player we have for shots from outside the box! If he sat at the top of the 18 yard box and let Quinn take all the corners I'm sure he'd have more goals already, just seems such a waste of a set play. Plus Quinn's last corner yesterday was a peach and nearly got us an equaliser.
Agree massivley!!! Oli's range of passing is much better than Evan's...plus he's is in form at the moment. Evan's didn't have a great preseason and I think it's showing!
I thought Mckenna would be available for the Liecester game. He would have been a far better option if Bruce wanted someone more defensive thinking than Olly. Way better than Evans anyway.
