It's only the Daily Mail, but apparently there were scouts present at the Liverpool game: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2022571/Al-Sadd-Hull-Citys-Robert-Koren.html? If there is any truth in it, how much confidence would you lose for the season without him? I reckon we'd struggle, he's the only midfielder we have that scores regularly and contributes with assists, whilst testing the keeper frequently. If Cairney hits form he's a possible replacement, although Pusic could be another possibility if he's as good as they say.
Cairney isn't a replacement for him at the moment though. Koren will be playing right wing, so unless we signed Pusic (or Ayala) it would mean Brady switching to right wing, Dudgeon going to left wing, the back 4 being Dawson, Chester, Hobbs, Rosenior and us not having any experianced cover for any of them until McShane returned. On the plus side our subs bench would be just as easy to name as last season, name it as though it's last season and then knock the two defenders' spaces off because you don't have any to name.
Of course, yeah, I always picture Koren as a central attacking midfielder, as it's his best position, forgetting he's usually played out wide. We could always play Harper right wing. You can just see him attempting to outpace Crainey tomorrow, his limbs flailing about everywhere. 4 hours into the first day of the season and the Harper insults have already begin
At the end of last season i wasn't to fussed over whether we lost Koren or not, but now i'd rather him stay here after his pre season form. He looks to have a big part to play this season so hopefully he'll stay here.
If we had to sell Koren or any other player for that matter to raise enough money to be rid of Bullard then it would be a price worth paying IMO.
nothing in it in my opinion! no quotesfrom either teams, also how many of these stories without quotes have come true this summer? Not many if you see who we have been linked with and who we have got UTT
He's one of the starting XI, so I think it would take a hefty offer to get us to sell, we'd also need someone else lined up to replace him, as we're short of wingers already. Seems unlikely.
I agree i see us on a good financial footing so we wont be in a rush to sell a member of our first XI. If a good offer had come in early on in the summer i think we may have entertained the idea but now i doubt it as it wouldnt give NP a chance to bring in a replacement. I also feel we would struggle to get some one in of anywhere near the same standard.
Ah but he might be desperate to go. Getting on a bit, fewer than 12 months on his contract, one last pay day - i reckon if there is interest then he'll go. Once Cam is back I cant see Koren getting a game to be honest. And I wonder if James Bull5h1t suddenly getting a squad number is linked to this?
I saw this, the article isn't very big and doesn't say much so let's just leave it as a rumour. I'd personally keep him. His attributes are better than Cairney's are and i'd rather call on him when we need a playmaker.
im sure i read part of the reason he left West Brom was that he was unhappy playing out wide , infact he may well have said as much in a video . tell me i didnt imagine all that :/
If Koren has any sense he will wind down his contract which expires at the end of the season and get that last lucrative deal next season
I'd like to see his contract extended, I rate Robert Koren. Good player for this league, scores goals. How much would it cost to bring in a similar type of player to Koren? He captains his country, let him captain the Tigers (providing he can communicate in good English)
After Koren's performance last night it wouldn't surprise me if Koren did leave us, his mind was maybe elsewhere.
