good news or bad news for us? it means he will get rest during the international breaks and have less risk of injury. Also maybe implies that he will settle in England and commit to a few more years.
Good news for us really, not that he was away much, but its a risk of injury which has just got smaller.
I've just posted on another thread but the club needs to sit down and look at getting Koren signed up beyond next season. He's getting more prolific as he gets older and his game has never been built around pace. He looks after himself and is settled in the area so if a contract extension on a few more bob was offered I think he'd seriously consider it. Replacing a 12 to 15 goal a season midfielder in this league would cost millions plus a hefty salary. When you look at Scott Parker ,who is a lot more combative, you'd still say he has three or four good seasons left in him. Koren is younger than Parker and probably has a good few years left in him. It makes sense to me.
if we can give an injury prone 30+ midfielder a 4.5 year multi-million-pound contract then a longer term contract for RK doesn't seem such a high risk.
Koren is just one in a long line of players quitting international football to prolong there club lives. after the likes of giggs - berbatov - vidic - scholes - carragher(i know he made a wc comeback in 2010) it makes great sense. i would not be surprised to hear that City and Koren agree a new contract some soon. Good news for Hull City. imo.
Me and a mate were talking about the Bristol game at work today. We had both noted how much Robbie Koren had run his socks off. Which is unusual for him of course. Contract talks coming up you say
He's been working hard like that a lot lately. People talk about Barmby playing him in his best position when NP didn't but that isn't really true. What Barmby has done is he's got Koren running much more than he ever did under NP.
