We've been linked (by rumours) to Kono, Iturbe, Shaqiri - all W/F options, young, hungry - all valued at £15-20m. Depending on competition for their services, we SHOULD end up with one of them come September.

    Who do you prefer?

    Kono
    Club: Dnipro
    Country: Ukraine
    Age: 24
    Height: 1.76 m
    Weight: 69 kg

    Shaqiri
    Club: Bayern Munich
    Country: Switzerland
    Age: 22
    Height: 1.69 m
    Weight: 72 kg

    Iturbe
    Club: Porto
    Country:Argentina
    Age: 20 (21 in June)
    Height: 1.69 m
    Weight: 62 kg

hmmmm... I have no f'n idea.

I'd not go back to ukraine frankly.. just ok the player is not par se the issue but you know..

I think we need real pace and quality and we need central box to box players, strikers and defenders so i guess this question is one of we could only be taking one winger type in yeah?

W/F: is one of the first positions we will have to reinforce. Sterling is the only W/F we have.

S: Rodgers ain't buying any out and out strikers this summer. So, it makes the W/F buy even more important.

CM: Gerrard is cover for either the DM (Lucas) or box-to-box (Hendo) positions. But one quality flexible CM is needed.

Defence: We have 3 ok options at both CB, and FB. Hopefully one of Wisdom, Kelly, Robinson - can grow to become the 4th option at CB or FB.

  4. We desperately need a FB that can play both sides, we have no one beyond Flanno and Enrique IMO. Still think we need a CM that can play the deeper role too as well. A forward would be my third choice.

Oh, and to answer the question; Shaqiri 100%!

Shaqiri 100%. If we sign this guy he will be unbelievable for us I guarantee it.

I disagree. Firstly, you forgot Johnson when you claim we only have Flano and Enrique at FB. I'm quite sure he'll renew.

Secondly, the W/F buy is especially important since we can't rely on none of Borini, Aspas, Assaidi, Tex, Ibe as first team players next year. This single buy will provide competition for all three of SASAS!

  7. I didn't forget Johnson, the way he is playing I'd pick Cissokho ahead of him (although Glen did alrigh today). I think he's collecting his pension and needs to be shown the door. Plus, considering his wages, I think he will be sold anyway.

I said attacker because Brod doesn't sign players that can only play one position. He likes players that are flexible and able to play in two or three roles. Attacker covers all three front positions.

Well we aren't playing with wingers at the moment and the system seems to allow us to play with 2 up front without overcommitting going forwards so I think we should keep playing it and forget about signing wingers. If we need to switch it in games we've got Sterling to come on, Ibe has the potential to be just as good and Assaidi back next season as backup.

My first choice attacking signing would be Remy. He can play upfront if Suarez or Sturridge is injured and also play wide if needs be. I'd rather us spend the big money on a top quality Left back and Central midfielder

I prefer Shaqiri too. He's very powerful as he rampages down the left wing and his crosses are superior.

Kono on the other hand prefers to work off the left as he shoots right (great shot on him). Iturbe has a blistering shot too (his left) and has a knack for a maradona-like run. I see Shaqiri as a more consistent provider though.

I would take Kono AND Shaqiri. Both can play on the wing but intelligent enough to cut inside and work centrally. And that is what Rodgers wants - versatile player, fluidity.

We will be getting rid of Moses, Aspas, Assaidi. We need a few more attackers in our squad as we can't rely on SAS and Sterling for every game.

Not only that, I would take Firminio who is the standout performer in the Bundesliga this season.

And we need about 3 new defenders and Lars Bender <ok>

I empathise with your eagerness and ambition, but no way in hell will we end up buying 2 W/Fs, 2 CMs, 2FBs and a CB as you prescribe Jimmy. More like 1 each, even if we finance some of it by selling all of Reina, Aspas, Borini, Assaidi, Suso and Kelly.

Depends on the price of Iturbe but think there are even better for around the same price from the COlombian ranks. Quintero at porto ( funny enough), Jackson Martinez could lead the line or play along the wings, etc.

Shaquiri would be awesome. Bayern saw something and that says enough really. He would be a great signing and provide a different option. Think he would fit the prem too with his style.

Personally, I think we will be selling the following:

    Reina
    Agger
    Johnson
    Aspas
    Assaidi
    Moses (back to Chelsea)

Bar Reina, that's 5 players we will need to replace straight away. Now given that we will have extra games to play next season, we need to boost the squad further with 3-4 players.

Quintero is less proven than Iturbe even, and probably significantly cheaper. Whilst, Martinez is an out and out striker, and I don't think Rodgers is going for that specialised type of striker so long as we have goalscorers in SAS.

Finally remembered the other colombian..... Luis Muriel. <ok>

May be epensive but then again, Udinese have been out of the CL for a bit now. He would be an awesome buy and a bit more proven possibly?

However, you'll have to consider the financial aspect too. Seven players of the calibre you suggest would total to no less than £100m.

But if you think that Wisdom, Borini & Suso will probably come back to boost some of those numbers, we don't have to go and buy to replace all of those people.

He too is an out and out striker, so don't think so.

True but I still feel we need more quality in our squad. How many times have we looked at our bench and it was dross. Would we feel more confident if we're losing 1-0 in a CL match and we could only bring on Suso and Borini? ...

He's similar to Suarez, can play up front, deeper and on the wing. Quality player but questions over fitness and work rate.
