There was a conversation going on at Koeman's Korner about the existence of God. God exists in the minds of the faithful. Those people believe. They support the idea of God, whether he/she exists or not.

If Koeman has said it then I'm glad he said it. It reaffirms the ambition that people began to think that Saints were only kidding. I loved the idea of Champions League football at Southampton, when Cortese first talked about it. It was bold and it was outrageous. Saints didn't and don't do that sort of thing. We're a cosy little family club and that's beyond our grasp and we don't want to upset the old Dell stalwarts. But it doesn't hurt to dream and have a little faith. After all, we're not having to take on the existence of a God, are we. And if Saints fail [some would say when] it will at least have been an exciting journey. One to try again. :)

''Saints deserve a lot of praise, as does Koeman, who arrived to a side that never was.

Southampton's fire sale left him with just a bag of bones and a dressing room containing other defectors.

But he has quietly, defiantly brought together a bag of weasels and got them back together again''.

Loved the above quote taken from the Star's match report.

This is not surprising at all to me considering what Koeman achieved as a player and what he has already achieved as a manager.

Is any manager going to come out and say, "I'm aiming to finish 12th?" It's like doing a pre-match presser away to Chelsea and saying, "If we only lose by 2, then we've done well."

I don't know the question he was asked, but he didn't have to put a time frame on it. A man of his calibre in football is used to competing for prizes and I hope he brings us that competitive edge

We'll need a miracle. Fortunately, they do happen sometimes.

Take that Twatbeard (well you'll have plenty of time to watch it whilst you're sitting on the bench).

Good to read. Seems the ambition is still there, as backed up by the spending this summer.

I think Everton / Tottenham may be achievable. A resilient top 6 team that'll occasionally sneak a season of CL football.

Shouldn't the weasels refer to Crystal Palace, who are more likely to be "in an out the eagle?"

I don't suppose it's encouraged. So probably best not to say that Arsenal got f*****d by the Foxes yesterday.
