Over on SaintsWeb, Guan 2.0 (for those of you who don't know, he's a very reliable poster) has said regarding Koeman walking out that he is "more likely to be escorted out". He followed this up by saying "Lack of clarity over his own future from Koeman himself - the club cannot be expected to delay that when the results are so bad".

Well, I for one hope he stays.

    Guan eh?

Koeman has said publicly he's happy to stay if the club remains ambitious.

Sounds like there could be trouble brewing.

Ron has always said that he will honour his contract and he should be allowed to do so. Changing managers now has no guarantee of improved results and I personally think that there is not a great deal wrong with the squad except we're shooting ourselves in the foot a lot recently. That tends to happen when confidence is low, but we are a good team, capable of going on a long unbeaten run.

Every time someone quotes one of their posters you can see why this place is a more sane place to visit.Talk about drama queens!!

Guan 2,0 isn't your typical Saintsweb poster. I don't know where he gets his info., but he seems to be correct more often than most claiming inside knowledge.

As for Koeman, the club is in a tough spot. Lame duck managers in their last contract year are always tricky. How much do the players listen when they know the manager has one foot out the door? Is Koeman's looming free agency going to distract him as well? And will players be less likely to come here knowing the team will make a big transition in a year?

If the final result for Saints is that we finish 14th or 15th, we can probably find another manager who can do as well. And I could see why the club might feel we might as well turn the page-- new squad, new manager. Things can get stale after awhile. Especially if there is someone high on our wishlist who is available in the summer but likely won't be next year.

We would be putting a lot of trust in Reed though. Not sure I like that. But then, we already are since he's in charge of all of this stuff. And he's done a good job, tbf. So I guess we'll just have to keep trusting him.

I hope this isn't exactly true as I don't want to loose RK
However his body language wasn't good on the bench and the interview after yet another disappointing result backed up that he wasn't happy to put it mildly.
If I was to guess I would suggest the boards transfer policy in and OUT has proven the breaking point and caused a reft between management team and board
Fingers crossed that everyone can get around the table and agree on a strategy for the rest of the season including transfers

I saw it as more Guan just saying Koeman wouldn't ever walk. Not that he is close to the sack.

If Saints are thinking about sacking Koeman don't expect any signings in Jan then..

    They wont sack Koeman.

Its not his fault that we sell our best players at the end of each season.

Koeman might want to leave though

This is basically what I put on the Mane/Wanyama thread when this was raised. In my opinion it's Guan's opinion not an itk post. It certainly had them all panicking on Saintsweb, as if they weren't bad enough before that!

I would not want him to go - I was unhappy with him on Saturday as I vehemently ranted at the time (still believe he got it wrong but enough on that subject). I do detect a level of frustration with him and from his comments last week and after this weekend show he is clearly unhappy and so are the squad. I hope he has not lost the dressing room but they certainly do not seem to be playing for him at present - Mane and Victor might are probably not helping the dressing room with transfer rumours abound. Something is not right however and has been the case for most of this season - we have only shown our known quality in patches and have been below par since the season commenced; I predicted 8-12 at the start of the season and we look well short of achieving that at the moment. The big worry for me is I do not see where the spark is going to come from that will arrest our slide down the table - you look to the manager to direct and motivate the players - but his public negative comments are hardly likely to improve the dressing room morale. Lets just hope the rumour is unfounded and RK finds a solution to what is becoming a serious problem.

If RK does decide to walk, I would hope the board would go for David Moyes. He might not get teams to CL or Europa League places but he does know how to keep a poorish squad (Everton twice) in the PL. With his contacts and knowledge, I think Moyes would be a good appointment given the structure of the club.

I may get shot down for this, but the best option out there for us is Rodgers IMO.

Sorry Tom - with Beefy on that point. I do not want to think about an alternative at the moment because it just seems to me that it breeds speculation and adds validity to what appears to be; at best, an 'informed' rumour... unless you know otherwise? :emoticon-0104-surpr

I'd take my chances with Jim Magilton if you don't mind.

I'd rather have a punt on Bielsa, but it's a moot point anyhow as I don't see him going anywhere right now.

A lot of people, on various forums, are linking RK's frustration to the board, not supporting him with funds etc, but Ron is quite a straight forward type of guy, who says what he thinks.
I honestly believe, if their was an issue with the board, he would just say so, and that's the way it should be. People that hint at things, not being quite right, are often trying to deflect criticism from themselves, and I don't think that is Ron's way of doing things.
I think (hope) his frustration stems from his players making so many schoolboy errors, all over the pitch, on such a regular basis.
Nearly every match we are conceding goals/chances as a result of our own errors, rather than as a result of being outplayed.
It's the same at the other end of the pitch. We carve out 1 or 2 sitters, and 2 or 3 half chances every game, yet our conversion rate is abysmal.
Even our half chance shots, from outside of the box, are poor. They are snatched at or scuffed and rarely on target (Martina v Arsenal the exception) which shows a lack of composure by all of them.

TBH, I don't know why we can play as we did against Arsenal, then put in lesser performances against "lesser" teams, and I dare say it puzzles Ron as well, but I have reached that stage where 40 points can't come soon enough.
