There has been a poll on various other forums on Koeman, but thought it would be good to just condense the opinions of us of this forum into a poll. You don't even have to post on this thread, or tell me "how pointless this thread is", just Vote YES or NO as to whether you want Ronald Koeman to become our next manager.

Do you mean vote to thinking he will be, or wanting him to be?

Could do a lot worse. Could find us some Dutch bargains!

He's an exciting appointment. I'd much prefer him to an English manager

Voted yes, but that's more by default. I fear that if it's not Koeman, it'll be someone even more underwhelming. While Koeman has experience managing at top clubs, his success record is very, very iffy. I'd say he's yet to significantly overachieve at a club, and his time at Valencia was disastrous.

The Roy Keane of the Netherlands, good playing career but nothing to write home about as a manager, don't particularly want him, but can't think of a (feasible) alternative I really want.

Yes. I think he could really help us grow as a squad. Contacts in the Netherlands could pay dividends too.

Has Roy Keane won league titles, domestic cups and reached the Champions League quarter final then?

I know he's not a titan of football, but neither were Pardew, Adkins or Pochettino.

And I think comparing his career to that of Roy Keane is actually a little disrespectful to his career.

Wanted Benitez knew we wasn't going to get him, wanted a WOW manager but again didn't think we were ever going to go down that route, but having said that me personally had never heard of Pochettino before he arrived and tbh when he was announced my first thoughts were whooooo! And I don't think he had a particularly good record so if Koeman can continue where we were ie playing the good quality youth we got, settling down the playing staff, playing the pressing game, getting results to consolidate our place in the premiership, with a decent cup run,and attracting some decent players terboot,oh and not f***king off when the first signs of interest in him then fine he'll do me.

I'm judging him on his last few years, and on that, bringing through youth and not having a huge budget, he sounds about right for us. Couple this with the fact that he was a class player which should help him get respect, and he believes in attacking football. Doesn't sound bad does it?

Yes, for similar reasons. The people I would really like wouldn't come to Saints.
