So we have a thread on all the other major candidates (AVB, Martinez, Rogers) but not Klopp. This was of course because he distanced himself from reports early on but that can be pretty standard procedure in negotiations. Rumours gathering now that he is the man to be made manager. Not sure either, guess the lure of a reviving a fallen giant in the worlds most competitive league is enough persuasion?
The only thing I don't understand is why these big managers would be linked with and want to be a dof instead?
I'd be delighted with Klopp (as manager though, I'd like LVG as DoF) but I really don't understand why he'd leave what he's created at Dortmund to start, effectively, all over again at Liverpool, when he's still got more to win there.
He's German obviously. Had a mixed career before taking over Dortmund, where has has quite frankly dominated the bundesliga. He has won back to back titles and did a German double this season, with hammering the Bayern team which hammered Chavski throughout the European final. He has worked with a lowish budget and brought through many young very talented players. He is fairly young himself, only in the early 40's.
I would be happy to see him at LFC as he done wonders with BVB. Perhaps his budget is far too restricted to allow him to improve the team further? Fancies a challenge in a more difficult league? If the owners want to go down the route of a young progressive manager, than I rather be looking at the likes of AVB and Klopp rather than Rodgers and Martinez.
Took over a struggling Dortmund team in 2008, won the cup in his first year and fourth year, won the title in his third and fourth year, the last of which was the record points tally ever in the league along with a 25match unbeaten run. Very good and young manager, he's the one who signed Kagawa from an unknown club, signed Hummels, Lewandowski and Bender. Players attractive football. Good choice, but again, I don't see why he'd leave them yet...
