I was shocked when I heard this. He is an extremely good manager and we're losing one of the biggest characters in English football. I hope he has a cracking final season in the PL and gets the send off he deserves from the Scousers.
He's done a fantastic job at Liverpool, they're absolutely devastated today. Great manager who it will be impossible to replace.
Reading his statement it does sound like it could be health related. You can’t replace him like for like, but they will blatantly get Alonso who is going to be an utterly magnificent coach, inheriting a supremely talented and young squad with growth in it. With a status at Bayern, Real and Leverkusen to help potential transfers. Likely looks to bring g a couple from Leverkusen, maybe Wirtz, maybe Tapsoba, maybe 4 or 5 and makes that squad even stronger. Great legacy Klopp but they will be absolutely fine with Alonso.
Imagine if Liverpools owners actually backed Klopp like their competition have been over the last 5 years.. to have been competing with City hitting numerous 90+ point seasons is nothing short of incredible. One of the best managers the PL has ever seen.
Absolutely mate. Mind I do agree when he arrived he was a breath of fresh air but over time he got a little annoying/whining. Maybe that’s related to why he thinks it’s time. In terms of being a gaffer, like you say, one of the greats. Great sides to watch, stars lost and into his 3rd cycle of the team and could well be the best yet. Bloke is superb at what he does. seen v City they only something like 30 points behind over all the years he and Pep have gone toe to toe and when you consider all factors that is an incredible effort. Think you more than doubled the gap to 3rd
So this means he will be available in the summer and there will be no release fee. Just saying it fits the model.
Nagelsmann will be under huge pressure to perform at the Euros now. Failure at a home tournament will have their fans demanding Klopp.
