Can anyone explain what has happened to that team?

I follow the football as best as I can but I don't feel like a get a particularly well rounded view.

I cannot get my head around how their results have become so dire.

I laughed when I saw some of their fans wanted him sacked a few weeks back.

It's becoming less laughable by the game. Insane for from grace.

lots of defensive injuries might have explained a difference in goals conceded but the total change in attack cannot be put down to injuries, last season the front lads were a joy to watch if i am honest, good, flowing passes with an end product...for some reason the whole front line have hit a bad run at the same time.

was pleased fulham got the points though as it puts the mags right in the dung heap.

He has played the same front 3 for about 2 years on the trot. Not surprised they are goosed.

They have suffered with injuries but all for the same position, centre half. Then they lose the midfielders who were standing in at centre half. If only they had our squad.........

As soon as van dyke got injured they started to look shaky, and just fell off a cliff after that.

I watched the game today and have to say I think Fulham fully deserved it and would give any team a hard game ...

... it wasn't a backs to the wall affair by any means.

    van Dijk.

They are far from a one man squad, but he is so imperious at the back, so good at starting moves, and such a threat at both ends that the whole system has failed without him.

Add in poor form from Mane and Firmino just plain forgetting how to play, and there’s you answer.

They will be decent again next season, but folk have long since worked out how to nullify the high press, other teams notorious for that like Liepzig and Atletico have abandoned it, both are top of their leagues.

They signed a rolls Royce player in Thiago who is dependant on wide players stretching width, Liverpool favour in behind, so he’s not made goals.

They will adapt and improve but City will be streets ahead next season again, I think they will let Aguero go back to Argentina, his dream, and sign Haaland. They will be terrifying with Haaland.

Losing Van Dyke and Gomez has lost their pace in defense meaning their defensive line has had to drop back which has had a knock on effect with the whole team. Now their attackers are not on the last man, they are in the pocket area about 10 to 15 yards back.

All that together with their 2 world class midfielders having to play in defence would hit any team.

The Liverpool first team when all fit is the best in the world but unfortunately for them the squad is second rate and we all know its a squad game

Am I right in saying something similar happened for a while at Dortmund?

Don't disagree, but compared to Chitty the bindippers or anybody else have not splashed the cash like the oil country. Whilst there is no doubt that 'Pep' is a brilliant manager, not least IN managing very expensive players, paid fortunes, in his last 2 or 3 clubs he has spent in excess of £1 billion.

Was it last season? they needed a CB cos of injuries..they spent around £50/£60m on a replacement...

Won’t argue with that, but Liverpool spent £75million on a CB.

Klopp has had opportunity to develop the squad and he hasn’t, he hasn’t had Pep backing, that’s clear, but he’s not been counting pennies.

Anyway, that only explains City. They are 8th in the league.
