Clement according to this. Dick Advocaat is currently in charge at the Stadium of Light until the end of this season, and a report in the Northern Echo has claimed that they have already targeted their preferred replacement. Paul Clement has yet to entertain a full head coaches role in his short career, but the 43-year-old has a wealth of experience in England and with Europe’s biggest clubs. Currently an assistant coach with Carlo Ancelotti, the former Fulham and Ireland coach has followed the Italian legend from Chelsea to PSG, and is currently working alongside him at Real Madrid. However, the report indicates that Clement has told his close friends that he is keen on a return to the Premier Leaguenext season, opening the door for Sunderland to approach him. Sporting director Lee Congerton worked alongside Clement at Chelsea, and he is ready to open talks with the coach, as it has been brought to his attention that Clement is willing to start discussions in the coming weeks. It is reported that Clement favours a return to the Premier League, and with Sunderland’s top flight status still in a precarious position that may influence the coach’s decision. However, the report does not suggest that he will rule out the club simply due to a potential relegation, and it would be no surprise to see discussions start in the next few days. It is also stated that current head coach Advocaat will be considered for a permanent role, although Congerton is looking for a long-term solution to Sunderland’s problems. http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2015...entity-paul-clement-as-main-candidate-for-he/
Not sure who there is that wouldn't be a gamble to be honest. Not sure we can attract Klopp - destined for a more settled club than us IMO - let's be honest - Martin O'Neill was guaranteed success... And look how that ended up! Congerton has worked with Clement I believe - sure I heard that they know each other from Chelsea so it might work - all in all - I have no ****ing idea though!!
Poyet was a gamble. PDC certainly was. MON was supposed to be a safe bet. I`m beginning to think Short would be better clearing out boardroom. It might help getting a few who know and care about football. At least he might get some decent advice for a change.
I reckon they should offer Dick a part time position on the board, working alongside Cognerton. Clement to be head coach, but Dick to be there to keep an eye on things.
I think we should just put Klopp and Mourinho in a boxing ring and let them fight it out for the honour of managing us..
Gets a bit embarrassing at times doesn't it... Tried to book the CBBC tour today and they told me it's already booked two months in advance, ****ter.
FFS, probably booked by all the ****ing *****s that work for them mate. Might be worth standing outside on the day and offering bits of undercooked chicken to the kids who look like they're going in for the tour.
Now, I'm not suggesting for a nano second I think this has any chance, as I don't believe anyone is fooled that somehow has lost it when in actual fact only 8 major injuries screwed them this season. However, are there any jobs significantly above our (and Newcastle's) level likely to be available this summer? I don't think so. One possibility is that Simeone leaves Atletico, and Klopp would seem a good fit there, but Simeone was rumoured for United, van Gaal is safe in that job now. So, he won't want to manage in Germany, where? Bayern is the only step up and they have Pep, Wolfsburg & Moenchengladbach are going great, as are Leverkusen. No more contenders. Into Spain, Real? No doubt it, if Ancelotti goes it will be for Zidane, Klopp's football would work for Barca but Enrique has just got it ticking, Espirito Santo is doing very well at Valencia, no other club in Spain could afford him. To Italy. Milan creams out, but I dare say the poor standard of Serie A right now rules it out, that leave England. City could be a genuine possibility, no way does Pellegrini survive this season, but would they go for someone who's just had a blemished season? Let's assume no, Arsenal, United, Liverpool, Chelsea & Spurs all have good, well suited gaffers. Next biggest club is probably Everton, tough seson but I doubt Martinez is at risk, and Newcastle, where Ashley would laugh at the idea of his salary. Southampton have the brilliant Keoman, and the rest after that have either settled or recently changed. That leaves the likes of us, or a 2 year sabbatical to Greece, Turkey or similar for mega money. It's not impossible but would take a complete quantam leap in the ambition level Ellis has shown last 2-3 years. I'd pis rainbows if we even TRIED to get Klopp, cos I'd think actually somebody, somewhere in the club had a clue about football and a gram of ambition.
