This isn't any real comment on Giroud, we've all see some positive signs from him and hope we will eventually become the striker we need However at this present moment we are badly lacking a clinical striker and to challenge the top 4 you need some depth in that position anyway In the summer Wenger really should have gone for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar...1 year left on his contract we might have been able to pick him up for under 15M meaning a 9M profit on RVP for a very comparable player...similar age, similar recent record, similar style Next summer as a free agent there's no way we'll get him as someone will offer giant wages even if hes just a squad player We need to make a move for him in January for hopefully under 8M Man City and Man Utd are fully stocked in that department but i can see Spurs, Liverpool and maybe even Chelsea making a move for him Llorente and Bilbao is in a similar postion being a free agent next summer but i think he's too similar to Giroud although anything under 10M would be good business
He would be brilliant. A natural predator. I like Giroud but when you look at Huntelaar, Cavani, Llorente and Mario Gomez its clear he lacks that sharpness that the TOP target men have. Also Athletico are said to be willing to let Llorente go for a 'cut-price' this january. He would be an incredible signing IMO.
If both Huntelaar and Llorente's contracts are up in the summer then we should definately make a move for one in january, persoanlly i would go for Llorente, Huntelaar's goalscoring record is good at the moment but as a striker he can blow both hot and cold, whereas i think that Llorente is more consistent. They are both similar players in terms of physique and pace, but i personally think that Llorente is the better player but there are reports that juventus are also interested. This really is too good an opportunity to pass up though in january.
Agreed. We saw the good and bad of Huntelaar yesterday. He is lethal in front of goal but his build up play is non-existent at times. Llorente can do both and last season he proved that he is one of the best CF's in Europe.
There were reports in May he was offered 8 ml EUR a year by Schalke. That's about 150K a week. Their director of football said they must push their reserves to the limit in order to keep the player. And we have Gazidis. So dream on. He is also reportedly wants to join a club "with the right feeling". So it will not be Arsenal, since he is perfecly aware of Van Persie opinion. RVP departure and his statement actually damaged Arsenal one many levels.
You have no chance of Huntelaar, look on the liverpool board they think they have already signed him. When the great pool come calling what player could resist!
I can actually see us getting Henry on loan again. He has been playing really well in the MLS by all counts.
Well if we're going to keep signing him on loan every January, we may as well get him permanently. I would hope for someone younger and more permanent myself tbh..
