Kiyan's father Mark Prince awarded an OBE for campaigning against gang crime and knife crime.

Terribly sad reason, but well done Mark Prince,
    RIP Kiyan[emoji20]

Already acknowledged on the politics board, Beth...didn’t want to start a new thread.

Ps Think you made a typo or predictive txt error in the header

Although it was acknowledged on another post, I think that this deserves one on it's own. Through a dark time, a glimmer of light shines through and Mark Prince receives a well deserved award for helping bring knife crime - and the consequences to schools, youth clubs and the youths (and their families) it affects.

Well done Beth - sorry Staines

No need to be sorry Ninj, I’ve had contact with Mark through social media and yes he truly deserves a thread of his own. But I’d seen recently a thread resurrected concerning the number of off topic threads (not particularly something like this) and thought it wise to put it on The politics thread (as that to be honest, is what the award system mostly seems to be).
More than happy to have a new one dedicated to the great man.

On a more personal note can I add that knife crime also effects those in the emergency services who go out to respond to the victims, and these memories will haunt them for a very long time. Luckily i’ve been spared that so far, unlike many who I work with.

As a footnote to the last bit of my post.....I’m now not so lucky as last night I attended my first stabbing....obviously I can’t go in to details but rest assured it wasn’t pleasent for all concerned.
    Keep your kids safe.

have been reading about NYE celebrations in London......and the needless violence and death. So sorry you had to deal with this Staines.....alcohol does tend to make humans act irresponsibly at times. However, I DJed at one venue this year and was told to promote shots........this resulted in two "fights" well verbals and shoving or fisticuffs depending on which staff member I asked and a car damaged.
