Spotted a piece in the People today about Darwinn Bernando, who is one of the Olympic torchbearers, in the rag it says he is carrying the flame through Hackney on June 23rd, he was nominated as he had formed a group to help kids stay off the streets following the death of his best mate Kiyan Prince. Well the torch is still somewhere up north on that time, but after negotiating the wrong date (it should ne 21st July) AND the fact they had spelt his name wrong....I found this link http://www.london2012.com/torch-relay/torchbearers/torchbearers=darwinn-bernardo-4347/index.html It doesn't mention Kiyan in the biography.....but just thinking if anyone is around Hackney on the 21st July it might be neat to go and cheer him on wearing our QPR shirts. Could find out more if anyone is interested
Beth...Did you know our own Judo is one of the torch bearers too He said they can only wear certain stuff so not sure we're gonna get a QPR shirt in there..?
Yeah I know Judo is too, can't remember where...and as I don't know his real name can't track him)....Not suggesting the torch bearer wears a QPR shirt ( I am a gamesmaker and I know dress code is very important, I have to wear purple and mango and cream...and purple, mango and cream are so NOT my colours) ....I am suggesting we go along in OUR shirts and form a gaggle and cheer him on. You up for that Queenslander, Hackneys not far from you is it?
**** choice of colours...it is suppose to make us stick out in a crowd....it works we do! like a sore thumb
Heres a link to my profile on the london2012 website. I am running in the East Grinstead leg on 17th July - so a few days before the guy mentioned in the OP. http://www.london2012.com/torch-relay/torchbearers/torchbearers=toine-hodgkiss-3484/index.html Really looking forward to the experience, cannot wait now. It has brought it all home that I am doing it very soon having seen the relay begin!
Another hero....well done mate. Will look out for you on the web cam....do you know what time you will be running?
Cheers, it is certainly an honour to be doing it for sure. Not sure exact time, but it is roughly between 10 and 11 on that day. Will find out nearer the time the exact part of the leg I am running in.
Sorry Beth, didnt read your OP properly, i though you wanted the unners in QPR colours. I'l get me coat and meet you there then shall I?
Bloody good on you, Judo!! Looks like you keep yourself busy. I've got to ask, the light blue piping on your judo top - forgive me for not knowing the correct term - is that indicative of your belt colour, just part of the top, or the closest thing to blue hoops that you could get away with?
