So yesterday I went to my local Tesco with the fam to get the usual essentials to stock up. Whilst I was at the checkout I couldn't help but notice some guy wearing a white football shirt with blue pin stripes. I became intrigued as to find out which team's kit this was as it was the exact same style as our kits from last season, just our home kit colours swapped around for the shirt and the pin stripes. It turns out that it was in fact a Gills shirt as he turned around and you could clearly see our sponsors MEMS and the Gills badge.

Obviously last seasons kits were Blue, Black and Pink so this quite confused me as we have the centenary kits this year and I haven't seen anywhere that we have taken up the option of a third kit for 2012/13 season. Although I did read the article about the pink kits being kept for marketing purposes for 2013/14. I was just basically wonder if anyone could enlighten me as to this new White shirt with blue pin stripes, if it will be used for the first team or perhaps youth or ladies?

In the club shop last season we had many colour variants on our first team kits. I believe there was a dark green with blue strips. The one you mentioned above. And a yellow one with blue stripes. They were mainly hideous looking things. I'm unsure wether you could still purchase one. But if you can they were on the wall clostest to the ticket office.

Yep, hit the nail on the head. One of the more obvious 'more money than sense' options in the club shop last year!

Picked up my new shirts this morning. Prefer the blue away kit more than the red home one. So guess I will be wearing the away kit at home on Saturday then.

My brother has the white one, that was a nice shirt.

They had red, green and yellow as well in there.

Yes - I would probably tend to agree with that, dependent on your build.

When I put the shirt on I did wonder if it was a bit shorter in length, so I put it up against last seasons blue(white pinstripe) shirt and it was the same size. However, when I compared it to my favourite blue/black shirt it was an inch shorter. It fits me ok, although I would imagine anyone just slightly larger might want the next size up.

Just a couple of cosmetic points. It has the centenary badge on the shirt, the normal badge is not on the kit at all but it looks ok tbh. Also there is a large imprint of the centenary badge on the lower back of the shirts. Being printed in black the badge is naturally more evident on the red shirt then the blue shirt.

I knew I would probably wear the blue one (away kit) because I am so against red, so I got that in short (red) sleeve. However the red shirt I got in long sleeve for those cold winter evening games, with long blue sleeves. I would say that the long sleeves seem quite ample for medium size.

The red is growing on me.. considering we used to have a red away kit for many years it isn't too much of a change
