Sunderland boss Gus Poyet says they are ready to change the role of loan star Ki Sung-yueng. The South Korean is with Sunderland until the end of the season after joining from Swansea in the summer. Ki normally likes to sit in front of the back four and bring the ball forward, but Poyet feels he would be better deployed further up the pitch, which they did with him at West Ham, with Lee Cattermole coming in behind him. "We had a chat with Ki. He prefers to play in front of the back four, but of course you need to work a lot defensively, and he's not that type of player," said Poyet. "So we said to him that we'd give him a chance to play forward. He can pass the ball, he's not the type of player where the ball is flying over his head, it could be interesting for us if he plays there again, it could be an option for us." Sunderland are keen to tie up a permanent deal for Ki, but Poyet added: "It's not in our hands, at the moment. It's up to Swansea and not up to us."
--------Cattermole-----Colback----------- Johnson-------------Ki-----------Giaccherini Our best midfield potentially. With Ki in an advanced position I can see more through balls for the striker and passes to get the wide men into dangerous areas.
Colback..ffs. I know there as many a fan, of the ginga on here. (not me), but i don't see it.. Maybe time for someone else to be given a chance.
and therin lies the problem, fella. not enough pace, not enough goals. probably all lacking confidence. i hope they prove me wrong
I agree about the pace thing and it should be high on the list of attributes of any potential targets. that's just what i think is best with current player. Larsson and Gardner are the epitome of slow
I'd be tempted with defence Catts AJ, Borini, Ki, Giac Jozy I know Borini is mainly a striker, but having his pace in the midfield could be a real plus. Either that, or give one of our development squad the chance to impress.
