Mark Douglas ‏@MsiDouglas 1m 18 months without a permanent signing if no-one comes in the next 11 hrs. Outgoings: Cabaye (£20m), Perch, Simpson, Gutierrez... #nufc Admittedly he hasnt been there for all that time, however in his 6-7 months in his new role, who have they actually brought in apart from De Jong and Remy?
Think that's all they've brought in tbh... unless there are some development signings in there that done make the news. Poor show rfom JFK tbh, and if they fail to replace Cabaye tonight... i'll even feel sorry for some of them, the good lads like QWOP.
Aye, looks a lot better than what it did! Just saying, for someone in his role he doesnt really seem to be doing much... Admit it was a daft appointment anyway but surely its only a matter of time before the RSPCA are brought in?
Really? If JFK bought you some quality you could easily push for a CL place with the players you had. Do you not feel a little annoyed that the management side appear happy to be also rans rather than pusing harder? In your position (which is similar to where we were in 2000), I'd be wanting to try to break that mould. I actually think Ellis Short would invest at that point if we were sitting where you are looking up rather than letting big players move on mid season
For a business man finishing in the top 10 nets you more money than an ambitious push into Europe which might fail. Even with Cabaye we were going to struggle to make the top 6 anyway. Thing is, our management have little to no ambition. Laurent Blanc has even come out and said if there was a small hope of us making the CL Cabaye would have stayed. Tells you everything you need to know. We are a stepping stone for other clubs.
Ahhhhh Joe, possibly the only ever Newcastle paid person apart from Bobby Robson that I'd buy a pint. The man is a legend and can wind mags up more than I ever could and get paid to do it!!
I know but as a football fan it would sicken me. As a business man the league cup final is a nonentity - prize money wouldn't cover Aguero's weekly wage (It'a about £100k for the winners) but as a fan I'm delighted we're there - same basic principle unfortunately business means everything and football means nothing to most owners
Don't get me wrong. I'd take the FA Vase final at the moment . Until MA goes, we will always be around 8th-12th in the league. No better and hopefully no worse.
