Don't who's heard, but it has been confirmed this afternoon that King's Of Leon will perform at St James Park on Saturday 31st May 2014. Personally think this will be a good gig. However saw them play at the Stadium of Light in 2011 and wasn't overly impressed on the night.

Maybe not for me, but, a really good coup for the club and the City in general.

Bringing a premier US band back to SJP can only generate a lot of good will all round.

Much better to have them here than the SOL, which lets face it is in the middle of nowhere.
As we know the City Centre has so much to offer everyone of all ages which should ensure a good night.

    Hopefully, more to follow.

Said on the website that they were the first of many of the forthcoming years.

Not the band they were KOL. First two albums were brilliant, particularly the first. Since then, there has been the odd song but generally just a wall of noise.

Disagree completely, think some of the latest stuff is much stronger and far more complex than the early tunes. I love it all tbh but it bugs me when ppl continue to bash the last few albums just coz its popular to do so.

Never understood the fuss personally... Seem like an even more tuneless version of The Killers. Now that does take work.

One of these bands doing well commercially in a guitar music scene sadly bereft of genuinely decent tunes.

QOTSA at SJP, now that would be of interest – unless of course Zeppelin dust themselves off again for a FINAL hurrah!

I suppose though a Black Keys & White Stripes double bill would be most apt.

Each to their own but they've been gash for a while now for me. Got the latest one Mechanical Bull and it is marginally better than the stuff they have been serving up. A step in the right direction as they cut back on the production.

They always have one or two tracks on every album I like but the overall quality of their albums has plummeted. Doesn't help when your first is so ridiculously good and timeless of course.

Been to see nearly every one of their tours but they are just so lacklustre now. The gig I saw way back at the Uni when Mooney Suzuki supported them, and the one I saw down at the Dome in Brighton, blow all their big budget ones through the years out the water.

Some of their stuff is undoubtedly more complex than the early stuff, but not better/stronger in my opinion. The wall of noise on some of their albums is so in keeping with bands who just become over produced. Nothing to do with popular opinion for me, as never really judge music on what is popular, just on what my taste is.

Fair enough mate. I agree they are not the best live, they stand like statues for entire gigs these days.
