Another one of Jamie Barwick's fine match reports on KingFut for those who fancy a read: http://www.kingfut.com/2013/10/27/match-report-tottenham-hotspur-1-0-hull-city/ - comments & feedback appreciated as always. What an awful call for the penalty though! But I must say, don't really feel Elmo's been performing well over the last few games..
We were told this last season by a Sunderland fan. Apparently he isn't really PL quality. I don't think he's been terrible, but I've seen him play better. The maurading Elmohammady who flies down wings and puts in deep crosses needs to come back. The one we have now needs to leave very quickly.
I think Elmo is doing ok. He will never be a PL star, but he is good enough to be a PL player. I disagree with the Sunderland fans in that regard.
I'm not sure, I think he has the qualities to push on and be a big player for us, but he seems more hesitant and error prone now we've come up. Even when he isn't under pressure he's making little mistakes. That said, his defending was much better today.
The bottom line is that Elmo is not a natural defender and will be prone to defensive mistakes. The problem is that he usually commits these in areas of the field (i.e. around the penalty area) where the consequences can be dire. For instance, if the cross had come in from the other side, it is unlikely you would find Boyd/Brady in that equivalent position. Is Elmo taking the blame for a weakness in Rosies positioning?
I don't get this at all. His positioning wasn't the problem, that's why we're all saying it was so unfair. It's not like he was really struggling to get back and desperately handballed it, he had everything covered fine and it just bounced up at his hand off his thigh. As for Rosenior I don't know what he has to do with it and as far as I'm aware, Elmo isn't getting any blame.
