Kilmarnock have completed the signing of Dundee captain Gary Harkins for an undisclosed fee, Sky Sports reports.

The 26-year-old midfielder was an integral part of the side that avoided relegation from the first division last season despite a 25-point deduction for going into administration.

Dundee chief executive Harry MacLean claims the administrator wanted to release Harkins in October. The club has now received a fee for him, although they wanted to keep him at the club

The former Partick Thistle man had struck a deal that he could leave Dens Park this summer to join an SPL side.

MacLean told the club website: "Unfortunately Gary has decided to join Kilmarnock as a result of an agreement entered into when the club went into administration that he could join an SPL club this summer.

"We had hoped that Gary would stay and had prepared budgets accordingly.

"While disappointed that we haven't, as hoped, managed to persuade him to stay, we fully understand his desire to play at as high a level as possible.

"When Gary indicated he'd like to join Kilmarnock we decided to honour our agreement, provided we could reach some sort of agreement (over a fee)."

Harkins leaves after 70 league appearances for Dundee, in which he scored 20 goals.

I think Gary Harkins is a great signing. 20 goals from 70 starts for the Dee. Not bad at all.
What about this young guy from Real Madrid (the name escapes me for the moment)?

    Mon the Killie......
