You know what the sad thing about this whole episodes apart from 3 families being ripped down the middle and never being fixed ever again and I'm including the 'extremist' christian families in that.

We're falling right in to the hands of the extreme right both in the West and in Asia,

Every time they kill one of us, we call for there blood. Every time we interfere with in one of their countries, they call for blood. It's an horrible destructive cycle.

There needs to be a Mandela like Character like Chesh said who can bring us all together in a world that Michael Jackson used to sing about (plz no jokes)

Are you aware that over 20% of the population of Israel are Arabs/Palestinians?

Are you further aware that a significant number of Palestinians serve as members of the Israeli Special Forces? I questioned my guide re. this, as I was incredulous that 'the enemy' were in the special forces. His response floored me - he asked me what the religion of our troops in Ireland was. (It was a while ago I was there!). It was a very good point - it wasn't all Prods or all Catholic in our army, was it?

Lots of people have different opinions.

 

Can see it turning ugly. Nothing untoward has been said yet but if it carries on someone will overstep the mark. Once someone says something that causes serious offence it's too late. It is only an opinion. But if you want to se what happens if things escalate take a look at the charlton board. It's like ulster in the 70s. Two tribes going to war.

 

I've just got back in, and this has been a great debate, with people who certainly know some stuff, people who have dividing opinions, and (dare I say) some people who wish to advance themselves a bit.

I'm not soppy liberal, as was proposed above, I am hardline when it comes to the law. What I won't do is castigate a whole community because of the actions of a minority of them (look, most armed robbers are fat, middle aged, bald Londoners so let's accuse every fat middle-aged bald Londoner of being a bank robber - sound silly, doesn;t it?).

All I say is we have a law that a lot of people follow, and lot of people don't. When you get caught, you hold your hand up, but you don;t say that everyone that is like that person must be the same. Mad ultra-right wing white christian nutters in America come to mind for anyone?

We don't have a generic problem with blacks (whatever some on here might claim), whites, asians (whatever some on here might claim), muslims (whatever some on here might claim), jews or atheists in general. But there are nutters out there that must be stopped.

Bigger picture? How big you want to get? UK Government big, EU big, human big, or religion big? All we need to do is ensure that the full force comes in and we teach all our kids to be proud of our country, irrespective of creed, colour or religion.

But bring out your own extremist card, and you're just as bad as the extremists you are railing against

 

Religion has a lot to answer for.

It is an interesting piece about deception, fraud and manipulation of public opinion. Not quite as sinister as the world of professional football, but still eye-opening.
