When they came on we were passing the ball a lot better and creating more chances. They looked like a great partnership both running around looking for the ball and when they got it they played a great pass, Was quite impressed with the little I saw of Howard. I do like Kelly though, Some might say he played poor today, but they were only watching him when he was by the ball, He looked quality off it, Making runs and keeping cardiffs players out the way. Going to be a very good player soon. So for the next game I'd like to see a 3 man midfield of Kelly, Kilkenny and Howard with Adomah and Anderson playing as wingers supporting Davies. Also never want to see foster play again. Offers nothing defensively or attacking wise. A waste of a position
Agree Shiny, Foster has been abysmal and looks lost. Biggest shock for me is how bad Fontaine has gotten. He wouldn't warrant a place in a League 2 side at the moment. That's a very attacking midfield shiny, and I like it, creativity, comfortable on the ball, movement and good passers. I don't get why you need a defender in midfield, its not worked for however many years we have tried it. Skuse and Marv are empty shirts for me, not good enough at defending and not good enough at attacking so why have them on the pitch at all? Let the midfielders attack, and be bodies to get in the way when defending and let the defense do their job.
With these 3 in midfield we would defiantly have a more attacking team and Howard and Kelly wont be scared to put a tackle in either. Marv offers more than skuse but I can see skuse going straight into the team when he's back Hope we don't offer him a new contract, If he wasn't from Bristol then most people wouldn't give a toss about him.
Are you not being a tadge unfair on Pearson who I thought did alright today, breaking up moves in midfield and being able to go forward once he'd won the ball. And I get a bit fed up with this constant slagging of Foster by some on here. He's by no means our worst performer this season! However it was a pretty feeble attempt by the team as a whole today trying to defend for the whole match; but then they were only playing to orders from SOD. The long term problem for me is whether SOD is a manager who pays maybe too much attention to the other team and not making them worry about us. Today, it must have been so predictable to Malky MacKay that we would try to shut up shop, that all he had to be concerned about was how soon they would score. Our tactics today reminded me of that day in Cardiff when Danny Wilson tried to get promotion with the most negative tactics I can remember from a City team. Whereas if we had tried to attach Cardiff and to press the ball in their half, it is just possible that we may have caused a shock just like Peterboro did there. But if thoose tactics had been used and it went all pear shaped, we might have got real hammering to worsen our already bad goal difference. So all things considered, perhaps a dull 1-2 defeat is actually not a bad result and only aggravates our goal difference by one. Now Palace have to be a different proposition in spite of their 4-1 win today. May be that Palace are not so great rather that Middlesboro are so awful at the minute with 6 defeats out of the last 7 games.
Basically it means that with injuries and fitness issues ie Howard/Kilkenny not match fit for a 90 min game yet, but that will change, he didn't have as much choice as he wanted. The defence was dictated by the absence due to injury to Carey and Cummingham plus the fact that Wilson has shown that he is not up to the fight atm is that a lack of something in his makeup or just lacking confidence no idea. I also think that he was worried that had we gone all gung ho with the players we currently have we could have been slaughtered and our goal diference is bad enough already it's currently worth -1 points in our battle for survival. Part of the problem is Fontaine and Nyatange just can't play in the same team consistantly well, they will have the odd good game as they have shown in the past week but not often enough. Another problem we have is with our forwards in the last few weeks we have seen the difference in having clinical finishers in front of goal If our forwards were as clinical as Campbell or Rhodes we would pick up more points even with the sieve we have for a defence.
Would prefer us to go back to 4-4-2 if the players are fit .....................................Heaton Moloney.......Carey...........................Nyatanga.............Cunningham Adomah..........Kelly.................Howard...........Anderson ................Davies...............Baldock if the players are fit enough that is or to be honest after this years performances LCB position should be ABF ABF = anybody but Fontaine
Baaaaadiff looked pretty average to be honest and would struggle big time with that outfit going up...... Nevertheless Bloody Foster and Elliot were out of sorts and liabilities in their selected roles and I believe improvements have been made in the middle of the park and now need their chance to shine to tighten things up, please come back Greg all is forgiven lmao...... Kelly not yet sure but Maloney is class and my heart sinks everytime he takes a knock aka Foster back out on the right, nnnnnnnnno Onwards and upwards to the week ahead living the dream Coyr's
Anybody there yesterday! What was Howard like always seemed to have a bit off class about him, when at Barnsley and Reading.
He wasn't on long enough to get a clear indication of how good he is, But from what I saw he looked like a good creative player. Has to start on Tuesday with Kelly and Kilkenny IMO but judging on yesterdays performance/tactics I doubt we will see this as SOD will concentrate to much on the opposing team instead of ours.
The time for trying to put our best team out on the pitch will run out very soon. Time for hard nosed tactics from Sean and he must tell the under performers that they will not play in the next match and their spot will be given to someone who is prepared to bust their guts for the City shirt and our survival. No other option is good enough and unless we put out a truly competitive squad in our next 3 games we are doomed for the drop. Failure, or a good try, will not do us any favours and going out to win every game is our only option. Just look at the table and tell me honestly that unless we go out for every game with the attitude that we WILL win we can still survive. Don't think so!

I'm still not convinced about Kilkenny because I don't think he's the player to scrap for the ball and thats what we are going to need from all of our players we can't score if the opposition has the ball and Kilkenny isn't going to win any balls for us. If the rest of the team was playing well or we are playing a 5 man midfield packed with defensive players he can play but otherwise he just drops back and gets in the way of our own players more than the opposition.
