    Warnock: backing Dyer

"He'll be a revelation in the Premier League if he can keep himself fit. There are not many better players than him in the Premier League."
    Neil Warnock
    Quotes of the week
QPR boss Neil Warnock believes Kieron Dyer can be a 'revelation' for the Hoops this season.

Warnock snapped up the former England midfielder after he was released by West Ham at the end of last season, and is confident the injury-plagued former Ipswich and Newcastle man can recapture his glory days at Loftus Road.

"Kieron Dyer excites me," said Warnock. "I get vibes about players when I meet them face-to-face and straight away with Kieron it wasn't about money - he's got enough money now off the contracts he's had - he wants to prove people wrong.

"He wants to show people he can play in the Premier League. And I thought 'you'll do for me, son'.

"He'll be a revelation in the Premier League if he can keep himself fit. There are not many better players than him in the Premier League."

QPR topped the Championship last season to claim their place in the top flight and Warnock revealed the Hoops will be aiming to continue to play with an attacking style, despite the step up in class.

"Since Blackpool came up I think it's changed everyone's opinion of how to play," said Warnock. "We've got to go and enjoy it now. I know Brendan Rodger's Swansea side will play like that because that's how they play, I know we will and I think Norwich will do the same. I think Blackpool have done us a world of good.

"I don't think we can change are style anyway - not if we've got Adel Taarabt playing for us!

"All teams coming up rely on their home form for survival and anything away from home is a bonus. I'm looking forward to playing everyone, though. I'm looking forward to home games, to going to Goodison Park, to playing Newcastle.

"I'm so looking forward to it all - more so than when I was at Sheffield United. United was great for me because it was my old club and we'd turned it round from 8,000 gates when I first arrived to 25,500. But here they haven't been there for 15 years and the atmosphere at Loftus Road, the old fashioned stadium is just fantastic."

However, Warnock did hint that QPR's star man, Taarabt may not finish the season with the Hoops. The Algerian is a target of Paris Saint-Germain and is rumoured to be keen on the switch.

"He might not be there of course," said Warnock. "If he has three great games by the end of August somebody might buy him. I'm planning on him being there until Christmas anyhow and see what we can get out of him before then because he is an exciting talent.

"However, he's got family near Paris, his girlfriend is French and there was a hell of a contract they were talking about. But he also knows the Premier League is the league he needs to be in to get his move and I think he needs six months in the Premier League to do that.

"Because he's not done it at any level yet. He's done it at Championship but the Premier League is a different ball game."

    Also on Talksport ....

It had looked like the enigmatic Moroccan would be staying at Loftus Road after PSG failed in their bid for him.

But despite reassurances from the Rangers’ board Warnock has revealed he could still leave the club before the transfer window shuts.

Warnock told the Sunday Exclusive: “I can’t say Adel Taarabt is definitely staying. With three games to go before the end of the window if he does well in those games anything can happen but I’m optimistic he’ll be staying.

“I think he needs a season in the Premier League, we don’t know for definite yet that he can do what does every week in the Premier League because you’ve got to have a certain system to play with Adel and we might find that we get turned over in certain situations when he’s playing for us.

“It’s going to be a learning curve with him, if you look at what he’s good at rather than what he’s not so good at it’s worth a shout at getting him into [our] system and we’ve been doing that in pre-season.

“I think everyone’s looking forward to it now, we started off quietly on the signings front but to get [DJ] Campbell this week on top of Bothroyd, I’m delighted and Keiron Dyer I’m excited about and I think I can get more out of Danny Gabbidon.

“And with a couple of signings hopefully this week I think we’ll be ready for it.”

The Super Hoops’ defence was a major reason behind their title win after they conceded only 32 goals in 46 games.

And Warnock has hailed Paddy Kenny as one of his key players for the season.
He added: “I’ve got to say, I think I’ve got the best goalkeeper in the country in Paddy Kenny, I’ve always thought that but now I think he’s getting better.”

We need a play maker as cover for the imminently absent Taarabt. This is where lining up a workable deal with someone like Joe Cole would help... otherwise we're just riding for an obvious fall.

Are we as a club capable of planning ahead atm?

    CLUB STATEMENT: TAARABT IS STAYING
Posted on: Thu 04 Aug 2011

Club Statement on behalf of majority shareholders Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore:

'We are pleased to confirm that Adel Taarabt will be staying at QPR this summer.
Don't tell me they're going to say, he was here for the summer it's now September!
Despite receiving a substantial bid for our Moroccan international, we rebuffed all approaches and indeed, we are keen to build for the future in the Barclays Premier League, and not sell one of our prized assets.

Should we have decided to sell Taarabt this summer, we made it clear to Neil Warnock that we would reinvest funds into the squad.

Taarabt is fully committed to the Club and is looking forward to proving his undoubted star quality for QPR in the Barclays Premier League.

Our decision not to sell him only serves to reiterate the ambition and commitment we have both shown to QPR since we arrived here.

We saved the Club when it was close to relegation from the Championship and just one week from liquidation.

At this time, Flavio Briatore outlined a four year plan to reach the Premier League, which was achieved.

We have always owned approximately 70 per-cent of the shareholding at the Club and have been the major benefactors since our arrival.

We have backed Neil Warnock in bringing in his two top targets, Jay Bothroyd and Kieron Dyer, and we are working hard to try and pursue a couple of other targets the coach has identified.

Welsh international Danny Gabbidon has impressed the coach whilst on trial and we are aiming to add him, as well as at least one or two other players to our squad in the near future.

Neil Warnock is our coach and we are working closely with him in a professional and confidential manner to try to achieve our aims and objectives.

The coach's job is to coach the squad and identify players he believes will improve the squad. As a Board, we deal with all the negotiations and we have been successful in completing deals for Bothroyd and Dyer so far.

We are aware of some issues that have been raised in the press by the coach, but we have discussed these with him internally and he has agreed to be more reserved in terms of what he discusses in the future.

We are fully committed to strengthening our status as a Premier League Club next season and in due course, build for the future.

Now we are in the Premier League, we intend to stay here. We believe this Club can achieve great things and we are looking forward to the Barclays Premier League season.

We are very encouraged by the 10,000 plus Season Tickets we have sold to date and we look forward to welcoming our fans back to Loftus Road on the first day of the season against Bolton Wanderers on August 13th.'
