KIERON DYER SIGNS ON BUT ADEL TAARABT TO LEAVE QPR 22nd May 2012 By Mike McGrath KIERON DYER has been thown a lifeline by QPR boss Mark Hughes in the shape of a one-year deal to stay at Loftus Road. The former England midfielder’s future at the club was in the balance after playing just seven minutes last season following a foot injury. He was not included in the 25-man squad when Mark Hughes took over as manager but impressed with his work in rehab. Clint Hill, Akos Buzsaky and Radek Cerny have all been offered new deals. But Peter Ramage, Danny Gabbidon, Danny ****tu, Fitz Hall, Gary Borrowdale, Lee Cook, Rowan Vine and Patrick Agyemang have been released. Adel Taarabt, meanwhile, is set to join German club Wolfsburg in a £6m deal. The Morocco international, who is out of contract next summer, held talks with the Bundesliga outfit last week. Former Spurs youngster Taarabt, 22, met Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath for discussions in Germany. But Jamie Mackie, who has already signed a new deal to stay at the club, has urged owner Tony Fernandes to open his chequebook to avoid a repeat of last season’s struggles. Striker Mackie said: “As a club it was a massive achievement staying in the Premier League. “As Swansea and Norwich did so well, everyone just assumed as we were a bigger spending club we should have done it straight away. “There’s a lot of relief with everyone. I hope we can add some quality to the squad and give it a real bash for next season.” He added: “To be given the opportunity to extend my contract is fantastic for me.”
Brilliant, his price has gone up by 33% since the last rumor. Keep this up for a few weeks, we're in Ronaldo territory. Spurs get 40% I think. There's another thread on this.
What source is this coming from Kiwi? It sounds like speculation, hope it is! Adel is a player I really want to go on seeing at QPR - we really need someone who can deliver the unexpected, and I'm not talking about taking the bus home at half time! Having seem a Champions League Final almost devoid of any creativity, any unexpected defense opening passes, and 100% huff and puff, the value of Adel must be enormous, but most value will get by keeping him.
40% is bang on. its still a profit, hopefully we can stick a little sell on clause in aswell. Maybe a cheeky 10%. His value will no doubt go up over the next few seasons. His style of play is suited to the league. I'll always be greaful for the championship season Adel had for us, he carried us alot that season in truth. Id like to see either one or both of Moses and Hoilett join in his absense. We need some quality out wide.
The Wolfsburg rumour has been around a while, I just can't see Adel being happy in Germany, France would be more his shisha-pipe...
Look....Wolfsburg have put in a bid for him....nothing more....nothing less. Papers jump on the bandwagon, saying he is leaving......I'd imagine we are drawing up a new contract for him and negotiating a better wage. We as a club are looking to strengthen, not weaken ourselves. And why would he want to go sign for a mid-table German team? We are going places and he has an emotional attachment to us. If it was a french side, then I'd be worried.
Just because there's nothing in the Sun, doesn't mean there aren't talks underway. If we get a concrete offer for Adel this early in the window and he does not want to stay, we'll sit on it and see what else comes in.
True but the club announced Hill, Buz and Cerny have been offered contracts before they have even signed. I guess they wouldnt announce Adels until its actually signed. I hope he signs, I love him!
