So Kieron Dyer has finally announced he is quitting football.
Probably should have happened earlier, so its no surprise.

A lot of fans will remember the spat with Bowyer more than his talents.
Personally I think Sir Bobby, got the best out of him and it was downhill for him when he moved on.

Sad to say, but another unfulfilled English talent - probably due to being injury prone more than anything but unfulfilled nonetheless.

I was actually at the match and watched him at St Mary's when he literally tore Southampton to shreds right before I think the 2002 World Cup, it was May. Tahar El Khalej just took him clean out and that was it for his World Cup. I remember the fcker got a red card and even Gordon Strachan wouldn't look at him, literally shoved him down the tunnel - you could tell even from their bench that they were gutted for the lad so close to the WC.

I always felt that was the turning point for Dyer. His luck seemed to disappear that day and never returned. He was lightning when on form, though.

Shame had true ability that goal at goodison park when he ran from the half way and dinked the ball over the keeper highlighted that.

The best player Gullit signed. A great career ruined by poor fitness.

Great shame he didn't fulfil his ridiculous potential. And that we didn't take the 18m off Inter Milan! Acted like a bell end while here and contributed to his fitness problems by playing the big shot down the quayside. However it was heartening to hear him acknowledge it in an interview a while back, saying he was ashamed of his behaviour and ashamed of the way he treated Sir Bobby. Was very respectful towards the club and fans, just seemed full of regrets. Shame because when he was fit and firing, he was fantastic.

I wonder if Bellers ego will ever allow him to acknowledge what a prat he was?
