Kieran Richardson set to quit Sunderland with QPR leading chase for London move Kieran Richardson is wanted by Queens Park Rangers and West Ham as he looks to quit Sunderland and return to London. please log in to view this image London bound? Kieran Richardson is set to leave Sunderland Photo: GETTY IMAGES By Luke Edwards 4:39PM BST 07 Aug 2012 Richardson, who has one year left on his contract, is desperate to leave Sunderland after five years in the North East, a decision reluctantly accepted by manager Martin OâNeill. OâNeill would rather not lose any more players in this window having seen Nicklas Bendtner return to Arsenal after a seasonâs loan, while defender Michael Turner has signed for Norwich and striker Asamoah Gyan has turned a loan move to Al-Ain the United Arab Emirates into a permanent switch. But Richardson has made it clear he does not want to remain in the North-East and Sunderland will look for a fee of around £3.5m. Should he move to West Ham, Richardson will return to the club he quit in controversial circumstances as a 16-year-old, although QPR are also an attractive option and are likely to offer him a better financial package. Despite playing for West Hamâs youth teams, Richardson joined Manchester Unitedâs Academy in a move reminiscent of David Beckhamâs decision to leave the capital to sign for Sir Alex Ferguson. Although the 27-year-old has been predominantly used as a left back in recent seasons at the Stadium of Light, he prefers to play on the left-side of midfield or as deep lying striker. Richardson was signed by former Sunderland manager Roy Keane for £5.5m in 2007 after the pair had been team-mates at Old Trafford. Once thought to be one of the best young talents in the country, Richardson failed to hold down a regular place in the United side and moved on in the search of regular first team football. Capped eight times by England, the last of those came in 2007. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/sunderland/9459559/Kieran-Richardson-set-to-quit-Sunderland-with-QPR-leading-chase-for-London-move.html
I have started nearly every season with him in my fantasy team...he gets dumped about mid September....fantastic underachiever
Always thought he was a pretty tidy player. As a right back I would certainly consider him, think he'd be better there than midfield. Not a world beater but solid performer none the less. Only down side I can see is that he seems another one who gets hampered by injuries. And we have enough of those already...
Im sure agents link their ****ty players with us just to try and add on another 20k a week when they sign for someone else. Its the only excuse for all the overpaid dross weve been linked to in the last month.
Not sure if he is good enough tbh. Whenever I have seen him I havent thought much of his ability. And does get injured alot.
I think he is a good player but whether he would make our starting 11 now I am not sure Probably spend a lot of time on the bench
To similar to Armand Traore so can't see the need. We'll get stuck with two players that's neither good enough on the fullback or the wing. Not a big fan of these versatile type players, would much rather we consentrated on buying players that specialise on one certain position. They're usually better at what they do IMO.
