I think he deserves some much needed recognition for his performances this season. He has improved his defensive game no end and is always a threat going forward with that pace of his. When Podolski is playing, he is even better going forward, but even without him, he has done well on that front. His display against Marseille in particular was outstanding. He is still only 23 years old and can make added improvements to his game, but I think at last, we finally found our replacement for Cole.

I agree he's improved a lot. What I'd like to see from him now is consistency and some end product in his delivery.

He made the UEFA team of the week after the game against Marseille. That is recognition of sorts.

I'm one of his biggest critics but he has been excellent as of late, seems like he is really turning into a top left back.

Yep, agreed <ok> He's done really well so far this season and like Ramsey he's flowing with confidence. The core of British talent at the club look like they are all beginning to blossom at the same time, great news for Arsenal <ok>

    Yeah Gibbs has been suprising.

I was expecting Monreal to take his place but Gibbs has stepped up a level in the last few months.

Kudos to monreal as well for getting on with it. The 2 biggest criticisms of Gibbs were his injury problems (hopefully solved by his 'new' physiotherapist) and his positioning, which seems to have improved massively. Definitely surpassed Clichy in his last few years for us anyway

Have to agree with those that said they thought Monreal would displace him, but without any long term injuries he has really managed to grow into that LB spot, he is constantly improving and a lot more solid defensively than before.

Both of our LB's are still young and i think the competition between the two of them could result in that position becomming very strong for us.

He's a great athlete, but i still worry about the mental side of his game. His positioning is still too bad for him to be considered a top drawer LB.

His potioning has improved massively though. And i think Monreal is very good atknowing where to be and hopefully this will rub off on Gibbs.

    He's improving well.
