I have been reading the EFL statement today about "troublemakers" at football and their plea for them to stay away. I have to say that this season in particular there does seem to be an increase of things happening that a lot of people would prefer not to. We have had a few things go on at Argyle which had been almost driven out of our club for quite a while now.

It got me thinking why people do these things and what exactly they get out of it. Why would you want to sing songs about somebody's colour or sexual preference? What does it achieve. Why would you want to throw something at the pitch and either players or officials? Why would you want to get an incendiary device in a crowd of people and throw it on a pitch.? I simply don't get any of it.

With cameras everywhere these days the chances of getting away with any of the above is quite slim for the first instance. I would shop anyone who I witnessed doing any of the above with a thought and so would plenty of other people. There isn't even an excuse of being pissed either. I've been slightly under the weather drink wise a load of times in my life and it has never made me want to do any of those things either in a football ground or anywhere else. I've also read this sort of discussion on pasoti from time to time. Most seem to agree there is no place for any of it but there are those who , whilst they wouldn't maybe do it themselves, think it's excusable in others and "just high spirits". Of those condoning it there doesn't seem to be an age thing that dictates approval. I've even read "we did worse in the 70's" as if that makes it ok. I have to say I do despair at attitudes of some folk.

Well, you know what I'm going to say............ there's an underclass of utter knobheads and knuckle draggers out there. They brag about going to matches pissed, they share clips of pitch invasions and transgressions into the other lot's fan areas, they denigrate those fans of their own club who don't behave as they do, the denigrate stewards and scorn their own club's requests to behave......... and that's just the ones that follow PAFC.
