Michael Laudrup snub has made Ki Sung-Yeung more determined than ever to be a Swansea City hit That's the headline of the interview with Ki, and he seems really fired up for this season, some interesting statements by him, and it's on the Wales online site!.................... Laudrup was prevented from recalling Ki,because Jenkins cocked up the loan agreement. But don't let that unimportant fact get in your way, now.
If he hadn't have been sent out on loan in the first place, that alleged cock- up wouldn't and couldn't have happened. But don't let that unimportant fact get in the your way, now.
I don't like the cut of Ki's jib. What I take from that is that he wasn't happy about the competition in midfield, wasn't prepared to sit on the bench so went to the chairman and asked to be loaned out....he got what he wanted (Jenkins and co. cocked up the loan agreement...deliberately?)....he got loaned out which he states was "good" for him....and now he's bitching at Laudrup. My prediction. Ki will flop. He'll continue to be a passenger in midfield. Ambling, switching off, not tracking his man and not putting enough pressure on the ball. Why do I think this? His performances both for us and Sunderland (who moved Ki forward and brought in Bridcutt...and then Rodwell...to play CM in case anyone hasn't noticed) He's a good player but a luxury player. Words don't cut it for me. Whether it be Ki's or Monk's. Ki has to produce in CM before I'll start rejoicing that he is staying.
If Ki was good enough he wouldnt have been sent out on loan. There wasnt a fan on here that thought he was at the time.
I agree that the jury is still out on Ki - seems strange to write that about someone who featured in 38 matches for us in 2012/13. Nevertheless, it still remains the case that if he hadn't have been sent out on loan then the alleged cock-up could not have been made.
I remember defending him on here in his first season. As some of those who are now celebrating his return used to give him stick on most match threads The irony. I think most of us can see that he plays with a style, an elegant footballer, some of his passing is very good and he rarely gives the ball away....but he has some flaws; a) defensively b) his lack of attacking output in terms of goals and assists (he passed up many opportunities to shoot in his time in a Swansea shirt) Defensive frailties were also pointed out by Poyet and have been referred to by Ki himself as an area he must improve on. The attacking output is different as he scored and created for Celtic and Sunderland fans thought he was very good going forward once he had been moved to AM. Could be that if we played him at AM and he got his confidence back we'd have a very good player on our hands. BUT we need him to play CM. We are overstocked at AM (Siggy, Gomis, Emnes, Routledge, Montero...even Shelvey is probably ahead of him in the queue). We need him to compete with Leon, Shelvey and possibly Stambouli (if we sign him). For me it's Ki or Shelvey (both flawed defensively) to accompany Leon or the new DM...and for me Shelvey wins that battle, meaning more time on the bench for Ki....does he have the stomach for that? I think it would have been better to sell him on and try to reinvest the money in a player that can contribute both in attack and defence...like Allen used to. Just my opinion of course.
Can fully understand that view on Ki but he's a useful addition to our squad imo and can bring something to the table. By far and away South Korea's best player at the World Cup though I agree that defensively he really needs to up his game and perhaps Monk can help him with that. Yes, seriously. He can hit a ball and his short to mid-range distribution tends to be excellent and he gives us a different option to Shelvey who is increasingly trying to rely of Gerrard-esque Hollywood passes that only come of half the time, maybe less. So all in all I'm glad we've still got him but it really is up to him to make his mark this season. [Edit: Just watched the video and didn't see any bitching. Am I missing something?]
No bitching. My mistake. I was referring to articles that have appeared in the Press. Got mixed up. ...but the press articles could just be spin by journalists hoping to stir the pot I suppose. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/michael-laudrup-snub-made-ki-7609835 http://www.southwales-eveningpost.c...g-life-Garry/story-22727430-detail/story.html
Let's see if the guy can at last really step it up. I like him, but not totally convinced he'll deliver. I've worked with a lot of Celtic fans' in the past & was quite disturbed when we were 1st linked with him how unperturbed they were about losing him!! I do remember quite a 'shot' on him at times with them though, so see how goes...
Like many,I have mixed views on Ki. I think he's got it in him to make a name here. Always mystified why he went out on loan. Laudrup perhaps didn't fancy him, until there was a need, then the loan contract got in the way. It's up to Ki now.
I like Ki. I don't like his 20 game guarantee if it still exists. It screws with the Club and manager and it screws with his head (whether he is conscious of it or not). I think that compromised his and the Club's situation at the start of last season. If he can kick it up a gear he could be superb; but does he have that in his make-up.
Maybe that's why they are trying to re negotiate his contract to remove the clause. Unless your Ronaldo, Bale, Messi or Suarez, that was a ridiculous clause to insert.
