Watching a bit of the academies games and we have quite a bit of talent coming through tbh. Dominic Poleon- Striker signed from Southend United. Looks promising, tricky yet strong with some good finishing. Don't have any videos of him but he's a "strong aggressive player who can take defenders on". Sanchez Payne- Midfielder who has been at the club for a while. Tricky but can pass the ball around a bit as well. And definitely keep an eye on Dominic Poleon, he going to be class in the future.
Dominic Poleon and Sanchez Payne have been the ones that have really caught everyone's eye over the last year or so. Never heard of Billy Ions though
I think Billy Ions only recently signed from Newcastle. He's a decent striker but I think Dominic Poleon has more potential.
The Academy look like they play a better standard of football than the first team! I take it Poleon's composure in front of goal is improving?
It was only that one game in the youth FA cup that he wasn't finishing very well. In all other instances he has always seemed good infront of goal. I've heard that Sanchez Payne is the most likely to make an impact on the first team in the future
I wasn't just basing it on that game; read a couple of other people saying he fluffs good chances sometimes as well. Good to see we have a few pushing to break through, although we should be doing far better with our youngsters as a whole. Not that that's entirely Leeds United's fault.
Indeed. Here are the highlights: Our U18s are 2nd in the North East section of the Academy Premier League, two points behind Newcastle. Can't say I know very much about our up-and-coming players, but there must be some promise there, considering Southampton, Reading, Arsenal, Tottenham and Man City are tellingly towards the top of the other Academy PL groups, and they all have excellent recent histories of bringing young talent through. Weirdly, Middlesbrough are in the bottom half of our group, which I think goes to show that it's as much about coaching and technique as it is about results. They were fielding seven home-grown players against us on Sunday.
I feel sorry for the Man City U18 players, knowing even if they do turn out success stories they'll still never make the Man City starting 11.
Lol yeah Man City U18s..........youth team to everyone but Man City. But that black lad who scored 16 goals this season looks pretty nifty, if City don't want him I'm sure we could a range for him to come over the Pennines.
