So it appears that West Ham may have captured Kevin Nolan. Does anyone else think that’s a fantastic coup? Id love him up front – just the type of boisterous player we need for a Gally/Schlupp/Maynard character to play off against!

    In Sven we trust though!

    Yes definitely a coup.

As I said in another thread these are the kind of signings that send out the message that you are a promotion contender. Other Clubs are starting to do big business now, we need to get someone like Maynard/Earnshaw in quickly before they're snapped up by someone else.

At the same time though other than West Ham and Ipswich (and possibly Birmingham but a bit early to tell for them without a manager) who should we really be worried about?

Definately a great signing for West Ham and I think the reason he has gone is because of Big Sam being the manager. There are some players who feel at their happiest when working with a certain manager no matter if they have to take a step down a league to do it.

And if you're looking for a dark horse next season, then I think Middlesborough under Mowbray could be a force to be reckoned with.

I think Brum, West Ham, Leeds, Boro & Ipswich will all be there or thereabouts - it is going to be a tough league next year, but we will be in the mix if we can get a few players in, toughen the team up somewhat and actual sign a forward!

Slightly concerned that big Sam has been in the job for a week and has signed Faye who would be good for this league and potentially Nolan, what a great signing that is. With Ipswich getting involved early it is now time for us to show our hand...

No time to panic just yet. I always thought West Ham would be a good bet for the autos so recent activity doesn't change much there. The only other team I'm worried about at the moment is Ipswich.

I still see no reason to fear Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Boro, Forest or Southampton just yet.

We might yet pull of some great signings, though doubts grow wiht each passing day...

If we signed Nolan that would mean either him or King has to sit on the bench. I would rather King. Younger, cheaper, academy plus i think King will score more goals. But Nolan is an all round better player
