Newcastle United skipper Kevin Nolan has completed his transfer to West Ham on a five-year deal. The 28-year-old, who rose to prominence under new boss Sam Allardyce during their time at Bolton, has signed for the recently relegated Hammers for an undisclosed fee. He told the West Ham website: "Having the chance to link up with Sam again is a massive thing. "West Ham have shown a certain hunger and desire to make sure that I became their player." Contract talks between Nolan and Newcastle had broken down over the Magpies refusal to give him a five-year contract. Nolan is expected to become West Ham's new captain and has promised to repay the club for handing him the long-term deal he wanted. He added: "The be all and end all was that this club wanted me and the owners put faith in me and have given me a security of contract. "Now it's my time to repay them and hopefully I will do that. "I'm very sad to leave Newcastle but I'm coming to another massive club in my eyes, and hopefully I can be as successful as I was there [at Newcastle]. "I've come to West Ham because of the tradition of the club and everything about it. I've always enjoyed playing at Upton Park." Nolan joined Newcastle for £4m in January 2009. Before that, he had spent his entire career at Bolton. Nolan joined Newcastle for a fee of £4m in January 2009 from Bolton, for whom he made almost 300 appearances after joining as a schoolboy. West Ham initially bid £1.5m to sign Nolan, but it is believed the final figure could be £4m, depending on add-ons. Nolan is currently injured after undergoing ankle surgery but should be fit in time to join the rest of the Hammers' squad for pre-season training.
Whatever he cost you it's money well spent. You went down because your team had no heart. Now you have.....ours! Best of luck for next season. You're a shoo-in for an immediate return to the promised land.
unfortunatley Scotty Parke rproved having one player with heart isn't enough. Nolan's a good player though, but how much has he got left in the tank?
