Does anyone think Kev still has a future at City? He's a great guy, with a massive personallity. OLM, is he on loan at Derby for the season or just until January?
No, he has absolutely no future at City. He's on a six month loan that expires in February next year and his contract expires at the end of this season, he'll probably stay at Derby, so we'll never see him again. He's a very nice bloke, but he's not a very good footballer and I doubt there's many here who'd want to see him back(though I suspect most wish him well).
With KK what you see is what you got, he always tried his best but for me PB played him for the most part out of his best position.
Although i've never met him he sounds like a nice bloke, but his best footballing days are well behind him and I very much doubt we'll see him play for us again.
According to an interview with him on Talk Sport he is out with back problem at the moment, which doesn't sound good for his future anyhow. http://www.talksport.co.uk/radio/kickoff/blog/2011-11-25/kevin-kilbane-life-derby-county
Although Kilbane still posses the work rate and the technique, what he does lack now is pace. There's no chance of him getting past even the worst right backs in the league, therefore unfortunately he can no longer hack it at this level as a left winger. As a central midfielder, where he's played for Derby and Huddersfield, he's not that bad a player. He's not that good a player though to force Evans, McKenna or Koren out of the team though. I don't expect we'll be seeing much of him again.
If I remember what we concluded from the debate about loan rules the other day correctly, then there is no such thing as a '6 month' loan. It's just abbreviated to 6 months. Strictly it'll end in January (but hopefully be renewed) Any long-term loan (longer than 93 days) has to start and finish within a transfer window.
