I think he's a top class striker, and would be an asset to most Premier League sides. That said, I'm not sure how you'd accommodate him in the same team as Zamora. They seem too similar to me.
he does a load of work but doesn't score enough goals. I cannot remember the last with his feet. Powerful in the air mind u.
Ha ha - love the title of this thread. I'm still waiting for "Fulham to sign man Jol once sat next to on a bus". Bidley - because we're little old Fulham, that's why. Exciting signings are for the top 6 only. Its the rules.
If we were looking to replace Zamora, this would be good. I don't think Doyle will come to Fulham to be a back-up player (he might be willing to go to Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, etc as a back up, if they wanted him, but not Fulham). Signing Doyle would be looking to get either him or Zamora out of sorts at being out of the team. If we were going to sign a Wolves striker, Fletcher would be a much better bet as he would probably be cheaper and would be more likely to be happy as a squad player getting a fair number of appearances through rotation or coming off the bench. I doubt they would sell either of them to us, mind.
It would appear I rate Doyle more highly than others on here! That said, I think CM is right. Too similar to Zamora, and I don't think it's a serious story.
I just don't rate the guy at all. We need to look at better players to consolidate the top 10 finish of last season. Sorry Fulhamish1977 mate.
Agree with Craving. If we're going to look for strikers from further down the table I'd rather go for someone like Rodallega.
Fair enough! The more I think about it, the more it looks like a total non-starter. Wolves would want a fair wadge of cash for him, and it would be ridiculous to blow most of our transfer budget on a player we don't really need. Probably just his agent talking him up to the press - funny how many players are suddenly in demand when they're in the middle of contract negotiations.
Doyle had stood out in a poor Wolves team for the past two years. I'd love him to sign, but yes he is too similar to Zamora. How old is he now anyway?
