I gather from what I've been reading that KJ isn't exactly pulling up any trees for you. I can't say that this is a surprise to me as he was the most lazy and at times cumber some individual imaginable. Pulis described him as "unplayable on his day" when you signed him. He's right mind. He is unplayable on the days he wants to be. It must be three seasons since one of those days though and it's the very reason that Bruce got pisssd off with him and ran out of patience. I see a lot of your games and enjoy seeing Stoke put some of the big boys noses out of joint. However, Mr Jones seems to have restored what became normal service for us. He's a big lummox who seems completely uninterested in using his strenght. He's a mystery to me; he really is. A lot of our fans would have him back but I'm not one of them, and haven't been for a long time.
Jones started brilliantly but has been **** ever since. A waste of ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã8m and Pulis reaction to Jones' bad form, is to sell our best striker Tuncay He is so bloody lazy, he puts even that lazy, greedy tosser Fuller to shame. I personally want him to be sold but Pulis has a hard on for him so there's no chance of that sadly
I loved Kenny and like most Sunderland fans just wanted to give him a big shake. So much tallent but so much waste, he just stood about game after game then all of a sudden he would do soething that showed how good he could be. I thought I would be gutted when he left us but sadly, by then, we had all had enough.
Morning SGT He did pull up a couple of trees then made himself some form of hammock with the branches.
Have to agree with these comments. I remember when we had Jones on loan, he had massive potential. And, we said then he's gonna be a really good player. When he scored five in 8 games I think. I thought he would be massive for us. Sadly this hasn't happened. I THINK partly becasue we don't always play Etherington AND Pennant which gives us the width. Thereby it means crosses into the area. Jones DOES have it in him, as does Ric Fuller. Both are two of the biggest whingers I've seen EVER. But, given the right player's and I believed Tuncay was one of those and others around them. Both Kenwynne and Ric would work harder than they do. FACE it, Pulis ins't the most adventurous of managers. To keep hoofing long balls to either is not the way to go. I sincerely HOPE that PULIS will see the light and TRY and change our style, if only slightly. For me, that is the biggest problem. NOT Jones and Fuller. In actual fact, IF we supply decent crosses which, we do at times. Kenwynne is usually there ready and waiting. With a little luck, he could/should have scored at least another 4 goals for us. I blame Pulis because he doesn't USE what we DO HAVE. i.e. Tuncay, Wilson often enough. Sorry for the rant, here's hoping we sign a MIDFIELDER who can actually PASS to another STOKE player, but I ain't holding my breath.
Pottermout. You mentioned Etherington. I was watching the game v Bolton recently (full 90) and ME was having a stormer getting down the wing and put some great crosses in. It was Huth though who was on the end oif them and not Jones. The most ridiculous example was when ME had made a lung bursting run and whipped a beautiful cross in. There was Mr Jones about 12 yards outside the box not even trotting but walking nonchalantly towards the goal. You would think he was on the beach with his dog. He has enormous ability and strength as Syd was saying. He just has no inclination to use it for months on end. He'll end up packing the game in or in the third tier. He's a waste of space.
I'm a big fan on KJ, and haven't seen a drastic change in his playing performance for us recently? Am I just seeing him through rose coloured contact lenses or something?
Sorry Jub but from where i've been sitting he's been utter garbage, lazier than Fuller and that takes some bloody doing!!
In the main it's a question of service to him - earlier in the season the crosses were going in fairly often and he was getting on the end of them - now decent crosses are rare and not the norm - having said that he's missed the target with 6 or 8 headers in the last 6-10 games. I forecast 15 goals or so at the start of the season - I'm now disappointed of Stoke!!! Sad to see Tuncay go as well - he was a bit more miss than hit in most of his games, but what a talent to let go - a superb player to start a few, come on as sub in a few .... waste.
Would Jones benefit from being substituted more often, or would it send him into a sulk? I know the prospect of facing the embarrassment of being subbed for Mama would make me run my kidneys out!

I'm pretty sure that there were some "issues" before we sold him. Not so much about being subbed, but not starting. That was really where the rot set in. He managed to alienate himself from Bruce. Pulis won't stand for any of his ****e anyway and I can see it ending in tears when he eventually gets dropped or taken off early. It's just the way he is. A couple of years ago my little lad who would have been about 7 at the time stood waiting at the SOL to meet him with hundreds of other kids. He got his picture taken with him. Jones was his hero at the time, but Jones never spoke to any of the kids that had waited all afternoon for him turning up nearly an hour late. My boy had very little time for his after that. I thought it told us a great deal about what sort of bloke he is.
I want him dropped. He's awful, his committment is derisory and his effort to apply himself in matches is nothing short of disgusting. If that is all it takes to play for my beloved Stoke City then sign me up Tone, I could more effort in 10 minutes than he has done in over half a season for us Potters. It's nothing short of disgusting to be honest. I'd rather have Louis Moult up front! OR David Xausa!
100% agree Rob, he needs to be dropped but as I've said before Pulis has got a massive hard on for him so he'll never do it, not even for Mama
Pulis has always had a problem of seeing something that is right in front of him. Reminds me of Arsene Wenger in some ways, only due to the fact that both managers are so arrogant as they will not replace players who are out of form, will not change their style and do NOT bring in players who will benefit the team, for us a central midfielder and a left back, for them about 6 or 7 defenders.
Thanks for the above Jub - Originally Posted by 1972_STOKIE View Post I know the prospect of facing the embarrassment of being subbed for Mama would make me run my kidneys out! K Jones atm does not stand a chance !.... he rarely plays and is proper ring rusty with no match fitness ! what really can we expect from him ? i think TP as some decisions to make ... good player but how hard can it be for him to sit on the bench for 3 months ! just facts fellas
I think its difficult to defend KJ because he had his chance and has not fulfilled his potential! When your a so called pro footballer and earn more in a week than the average person earns in a year, there is no excuse for not putting a shift in. As Walters shows 9and I am not his biggest fan) the harder you work the more chances come your way! However, in his defence - it must be difficult for any player trying to play up front living off straight balls against 2 central defenders! Even Crouch looks poor in the situation and most of his goals have come from set pieces as opposed to open play! So, whilst the player has his faults i think the system and manager have contributed!
Potter Palm For me either Jones or Jerome should be playing more often.. Jon Walters does but he is not scoring and looks knackered the more I see him. Only Pulis knows why mate. But you are quite right, to ask KJ to just come on after so long out in the cold and perform will not happen.
