QPR have, as expected, put keeper Paddy Kenny up for sale following their signing of Robert Green. Several potentially interested clubs have been informed that Kenny, 34, is available for transfer. Leeds boss Neil Warnock, who managed the Republic of Ireland international at Rangers, Sheffield United and Bury, is keen to take him to Elland Road. But on Friday afternoon the chances of him being reunited with Warnock appeared to be rapidly receding. Warnock is being hampered by financial restrictions and a number of Championship clubs believe they may be able to snatch Kenny from his grasp. During his two seasons in west London, Kenny has made 77 league appearances for the R’s and was a key player in their promotion to the Premier League. He had hoped to be offered an extension to his current contract, which is due to expire next year, but it has been clear for some time that his future lies away from Loftus Road.
That's harsh unless they know there's interest and want him to get a signing on fee. He's not so far away from being our best keeper that it's inconceivable that he'll get the no. 1 spot.
In our promotion season, he was arguably our best player. This last season saw him have some very average performances and some bad ones. The best goalkeeping this year came from Cerny!! I don't think it's because he can't cope with the Premier League, I simply think he had a dip in form this last season, although it's true that the Premier League challenged him a lot more than the Championship. A good signing for any Championship team and not a bad signing for some Premier League teams.
A fair enough post that although hes showed that hes not quite up to PL level. He still has plenty to offer though in the Second Tier.
Good luck to him...played a massive part in our promotion and not as bad as made out to be last year!
No goalie who has been unquestioned No.1 but is clearly in decline would hang around when a new International is signed. Those who are saying he should stay are doing so through rose-tinted spectacles, he was great in our promotion season but not great last season. He's part of our history now, done his bit to get us to and keep us where we are but on his way with our heartfelt thanks. Bristol City appear to be favourites to land him now Leeds are too tight to spend...
Wherever he ends up I wish him well. I think it's fair to say that we wouldn't be where we are now without his performances, especially in the Championship. It would be good if he did go to a Championship side, that he would be in with a shout of promotion. He's too good to languish in a mid table side.
Absolutely Hoops, I want to reiterate that. Great player for the Rs, will remain one of my favourite players ever. Was most likely our player of the season in 2010-11, a few great performances last season, but a few costly mistakes too....sorry one step a little too far. I wish him well and more championship medals, thank you Paddy (PS try not to go to Leeds...I have an awful feeling, they are not far off imploding)
My sentiments entirely, Beth and Hoops. All things considered, he's done well for the club. We have a lot to thank him for and I wish him good luck (even if he goes to Leeds, which is of course, a massive club!)
Think Paddy has been a great keeper for us and sad to see him go. Hes definitely better than Cerney. Never forget one world class save he made at Carrow Road last season where a looping header that was going under his cross bar he dived back and somehow pushed it over the bar and a save he made in the last min against Blackburn at LR when one of there players was 1 on 1and that earnt us a precious point
Ahh I see what you did there!!! ;-) This is what I actually said on the other thread 'Whilst it looks highly likely he will go, he hasn't yet so this is premature. He'd make a great number 2.' Basically spot on, he still hasn't gone but probably will, he is transfer listed so there is no specific buyer currently waiting, and if he did stay he'd make a great number 2.
Ffs read what I'm writing before you get your grrr emoticons out the bag. I'm agreeing he probably will go, but he hasnt yet and if he did stay he'd make a great number 2. What part of that is wrong?? Because I just don't see it!
